Declaration Grooming/Chatillon Lux Yuzu Rose Patchouli
with two drops of Folgate Lavender Essential Oil from Martha Lane Lavender, Sequim Washington

One of my most favored shaving soaps given a boost of essential oil of lavender. This made for an exquisite shaving soap with an extraordinary scent. Sometimes experiments pay off.

Today is day three with the Marlborough and man I like this scent.  That said I have not noticed any change in performance but I do load it long and heavy.  Great trip though and getting to smell that scent daily has been fun.

Traditionnel v. (Le Père Lucien) lemon, rosemary, thyme, lavender, eucalyptus

This was the fifth and final day for this go-round with Traditionnel. What did I learn? First, LPL’s 2019 soap base is vastly superior to its previous versions. It's so much better that I threw away all my older LPL soaps. There's no way I could go back to that old airy-snotty lather after using the new stuff. The current LPL base makes my favorite lather. Light but dense, it washes away clean while still leaving enough emollients behind to keep the skin feeling soft and fresh shaved for a dozen hours. Next, the soap takes a little breaking in. The first day gave me satisfactory lather, the second was a clear improvement, and by day three I was in cloud cuckoo lather land. After that, the emulsion remained superb, but I didn’t notice any marked improvement. And last, there’s a lot of eucalyptus in the scent. Funny how a note can catch your attention and then sort of take over a fragrance. I like eucalyptus. There’s a lot of it growing around here, so the smell of this soap fits right in. But I’m not sure I’d be so wild about the scent of Traditionnel if I were lathering it anywhere else.

Fascinating tale.  I hadn't thought about places a scent might not work.  I do understand memories evoked by scent though.  Thanks for sharing.

I have tried on other Crowne and Crane offering and liked it so well I picked up this on in the BST.  Simply labeled Spruce and that is the scent I get.  It smells a bit artificial but not annoyingly so and I find it pretty pleasant even if it is not like sawing lumber.  The stuff loads quickly and it seems pretty easy to find the right water ratio.  Slick and protective.  I'm headed out for a few days and will take this soap.
