So this morning started like any other day...get up, shower, get ready for work... I found out on the commute in to work that I won a PIF for a wicked brush, so the day started off much better than most, by anyone's account. Beaitufl, sunny day...PIF win for an awesome brush...and I knew I had some pet projects at work that I would enjoy and keep me busy all day...
So I got to work, squared away the paperwork by 9am, and grabbed the giant rolls of sheetmetal to start cutting them into usable size sheets. That's when the day took a turn...
Our 26 gauge sheet metal comes in 48X120" long sheets, 2 sheets per roll. One of my pet projects is to get these sheets cut down to usable size...40X48" and 60X48". First step is to cut the steel band that holds them in the roll...
Now...I've cut these bands of this sheetmetal a thousand times or more. Same way, everytime...I put the "loose" end towards the floor, so that when the pressure is release by cutting the band, the sheets unroll away from me. Same way everytime...
Today, I cut that steel band, and the roll literally JUMPED, and the loose ends POPPED up, right into my index finger, clealy cutting me straight to the flipping bone...
Only 3 stitches, but man, when this Novacaine wears off, the afternoon is gonna be interesting. Being of moderate intelligence, I finished cutting the majority of the sheet metal while the Novacaine was still in full effect, so that project is mostly done. Just wondering what the afternoon is gonna bring...
