I appreciate the warnings, because I don’t handle matters like this well at all. I did look at BadDad’s picture, and thankfully things didn’t look too bad. A quick recovery to you, Chris!

I knew better than to look at Marko’s photos, so I’ll leave any moderating up to the other mods. Smile Thanks again for the warnings, and like said — be careful out there, people!

You're a wise man. Our son is away at school and when this incident happened we knew nothing about it and only received text pictures of the injured arm from our son. As parents are first reaction was shock that this injury had happened to our son so there were some frantic moments until we were able to confirm that he was safe.

The young man had to be taken to a major hospital in a different city as the ER Dr. at the local hospital was completely out of his depth. I also think its a comment on the younger generation that the guy was snapping pictures while this was going on - I think he was on some heavy pain killers by then.

That was a very thorough job that the gent did on his arm. Just WOW!

Anytime I ever needed stitches I used it as an opportunity to check the internal parts. Weird, I know.

Marko, do you have any idea how the young man has been doing? Any serious permanent damage?

Hi Freddy , my son last saw the fellow a couple of months ago, just less than a year post injury. He hasn't recovered complete use of his fingers/hand yet and there is still some numbness in his hand and unfortunately he's left handed. He's hopeful that he will eventually recover most of the use of and feeling in his hand but given the extent of damage to nerves and tendons its unlikely he will have 100% recovery. Its really too bad how things can go from fine to disaster in the blink of an eye.

Thanks for the update, Mark, though I wish the news was better.

Well I just returned from having the stitches removed, and I have to say I am very happy with the results. The doctor really did an exceptional job of sewing it up cleanly. It looks and feels MILES better than I was expecting. Couple 3 or 4 days more and I'll be good as new!!

Here's a quick pic of the sutures just before being removed:
