Am I the only one who likes the tasteful simplicity of the white label?  I mean, come on, a bucking bronco on a shaving soap?  Really?  Is the Roan label nice?  Yes, it is.  Is it classy.  Um, nope, not for me.  Will I stop buying Barrister & Mann because of its label?  Heck no!  The soap itself is, indeed, a class act and, ultimately, it's the soap I shave with, not the packaging. Happy2

It was designed as part of a contest and chosen by Wet_Shavers. Smile I didn't create that one.

However, sneak preview for those interested (link is good for one hour): http://cl.ly/fc39

Being from Calgary, Alberta I have to say that I'm a fan of the bronc rider on the label - thats what the soap smells like . That rodeo motif is as comfortable and familiar to me as the Rocky Mountains. Roam has a leathery, cleaned up rodeo smell, like the saddle and rigging but minus the animal and human smell. If you've ever been up close at the chutes during a rodeo when they'r loading stock and riders, the adrenalin and stress of the animals and the riders is palpable - you wouldn't sell much soap that smelled like that.

Don't get me wrong onethinline, I do love some the design elements on the labels Big Grin. But I have to say that I much prefer the new ones that have been previewed - gorgeous! Simplicity has its merits.

I have always liked the White Label logo but I happen to like some of the newer labels like LGC and Night Music better. The Bronco on the Roam was voted for by those of us who purchased the special batch Will so kindly offered, thus I am very pleased with the process he chose and the overall winning design which I voted for over the other choices. The label for Roam won by a landslide from what I recall, thus most of us are pleased with the design I suspect.

It is just soap to many, but for some it is more than that. I would still buy B&M no matter what the label, however, I would not be willing to pay as much for the products if the packaging were cheap looking. For me, it says a lot about the artisan's commitment and pride for their products when they go the extra mile to provide nice packaging and presentation. Also, I appreciate how some artisans choose to listen to feedback from customers and work to improve their products, whether it be the ingredients, packaging, price, etc., and I believe that contributes significantly to the success of those artisans.

I can see that this is going to get me in trouble. Big Grin

I've uploaded another copy, but am reluctant to leave it online permanently. So here it is, for one day: http://cl.ly/fe7D

Have a great weekend, all!

Really nice Will. Seville is still my favorite scent of any soap out there. It's such a classic everyday scent for me. I have trouble with lathering it consistently though, so I'm looking forward to it coming out in the glissant base.

That's interesting. What kind of problems are you having? Too thin? Too thick? Unstable? Not slick enough?

Edit: Actually, so as not to derail the thread, shoot me a PM and we'll see if we can get it sorted out. Smile
