vtmax, thanks for sharing that Gillette ad! It’s always interesting to see some of the early wet shaving marketing, and the idea presented sounds like a reasonable idea. However, the last dud blade I came across was a Gillette Nacet, with the wax spots, whereas I’ve never had a dud Personna Super (Lab Blue), which comes clean as a whistle in its wrapper. (Obviously, a blade can be a dud for a number of reasons, but — just sayin’…)
Someone recently said that the wax spots help hold the blade in place inside the razor head. That was the first time I’d ever heard that, and frankly, my thinking is that if you need some kind of adhesive to hold a blade in place inside the razor, then that’s a razor you probably shouldn’t use for shaving.
Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”
