How I missed this is beyond me. I'll be in to get a few OC variants. Better late than never as they say...

That's a great looking razor. How is it? It seems the older Gillette razors tend to be on the milder side, even the ones that are considered to be the more "aggressive" or efficient ones.

I have a couple Old Types and trust me, those Old Types are anything but, mild. However, I don’t consider them to be aggressive say like a Muhle R41. They are highly efficient and do provide for some exquisite shaves. The RFB however, is for me the best melding of the Old, New, Reissue, SC & LC open comb versions that Gillette ever created. It has superb cutting ability yet still offers a smooth and very comfortable shave feel that can be used daily or when multiple days of growth are present. Many in the Gillette camp consider it to be the best 3 pc. razor that Gillette ever produced and I’m inclined to believe so as well. It encompasses the near perfect balance of cutting ability, utmost in comfort with ease of use. Really a magnificent razor and a must have for any Gillette enthusiast. As always, just my humble opinion and the adage of YMMV does apply here as well.

Great shaves to you my friend.

That sounds like a nice razor. I sold my R41 and I also find my Backland Blackbird OC a bit too much. And I like blade feel, but it is rough even for me. YMMV, truer words have never been spoken I think than in this hobby! Great shaves to you was well!

The HomelikeShaving Start .90 is really a fine shaver. It’s not an aggressive feeling shaver in the least with really good manners. Blade exposure is perhaps on the negative side or at least neutral but, it has enough for a couple days worth of growth and equally can be easily a daily shaver without a worry in the world. A good shave….

Nice razor. I had my eye on the Colibri which are finally in stock. I would have preferred the machined or polished version over satin. I think shipping is part of what had me pause. but I just checked and it isn't too bad. I must have been mistaken or made a mistake. I would likely have gone with the 1.10mm or 1.30mm. It would be $84.60 shipped for the complete razor.

Thank you amigo. The Colibri is a very good razor. When I sampled it on a pass around here a few years back, I remembered it being more on the efficient side over the Start while maintaining almost the same like smoothness. Very capable shaver with excellent shave pedigree. With whichever plate(s) you go with I’m sure you will get some very satisfying & quality shaves.

Thanks for the info. I am interested in likely multiple plates and some of their splashes also. We'll see.
