New Asylum Rx V2

Back with the Asylum Rx V2 after a break of several days.  I binned the Schick Proline and went with a Feather Pro.  I have found the best angle for me is using the Rx like and injector and keeping the face of the razor flat on my face.  The shave today was smooth and drama free.  I find the Rx V2 shaves very similar to my Cobra Classic.  Both are smooth when I do my part but require that I pay attention.  I was hoping the Rx would be similar to the Cobra. I can see the Rx being a daily driver for me.

I will try it next week. If it is like Classic Cobra, it is winner for me. 
I am expecting more aggressive than Vector and Colonial, that is why I purchased Rx.

You can't zip through shaves with this razor but it's wonderful

It is more aggressive than my Brass General. It is like a Cobra with a durable finish and easier loading.

I agree it is like a Cobra with easier and more secure loading. Plus it should be more durable since it is polished stainless.

What exactly do you mean with this statement? As opposed to what? In your opinion is polished more durable than say a satin or matte finish? Just curious...

When I hold the Cobra Classic in my hand the last thing that comes to mind is durability. The polish while gorgeous is very easy to scratch and I am not comfortable doing a deep polish to remove the scratches. I would not hesitate to aggressively polish a stainless razor to remove scratches. The Cobra loading mechanism is held together with two small screws and is somewhat flimsy. Since the Cobra Classic is not made anymore, I am reluctant to use the razor on a regular basis and subject it to wear and tear. Accordingly I use it for a shaves each year, clean it and put it back in storage. I have been looking for a razor that shaved like the Cobra that I would be comfortable using on a daily basis. For me the Rx2 does just that. Again these are just my opinions based on personal experiences.

I guess I should've guessed it was as opposed to the Cobra Classic so that was answered but how does it being polished make it more durable than say a satin or matte finish? The reason I ask is because any polished razor I have used in the past has showed every little micro abrasion before even "1" shave is complete including clean up hence the reason I don't own, nor will I ever purchase anything polished!! To me the satin or matte finished look much better for a mush longer period of time than polished, but that is just my experience. Again, just curious...

Oh I agree. When given a choice I most always buy the matte or satin finish. I despise keeping things polished.

USPS in Los Angeles is a Black Hole right now. I have another shipment that's been sitting there since the 2nd of Feb with no movement also .....is what it is...

As someone who's shipped a decent amount of stuff out of LA the past few months, it has been a little frustrating. I've noticed it be a bit slower than what it takes for packages coming to me, but what seems to happen more often than not is that the shipping info doesn't get updated until the day it's out for delivery to the recipient. I sent someone a small package a week and a half ago, dropped it off on a Friday, and up until the day it was delivered the following Thursday it was still showing in the online tracking system as label printed but still waiting for the item to be dropped off to start the delivery process... not sure how it can make it out there door and through who knows how many stops in the middle and still never even register.

I got my first shave. With Schick blade, it works perfect. Very efficient and smooth. I didn't find overly aggressive, it is like Cobra Classic.

I have owned two Cobras. The first one bought 12 years ago and it cost $125 from the original owners of Classic Shaving. They were also the sole distributers of Feather AC blades in the USA. I sold it and several years later bought another. The shaves were excellent but grip wise not good. Loading a blade was a challenge. The low plate had a latch and when you moved to open the bottom plate it dropped down because it was held together with a hinge. You loaded the blade in an awkward position and when I attempted to close and lock the latch sometimes the blade would fall out. The Asylum RX is simple to load and the blade locks in perfectly.  I used a Pro Super 9 times with no issues. Grip also is not an issue.
