Part of the reason things are so confusing and subjective is that gap is easy to measure but less important than exposure, which is difficult to measure.

It’s sort of like dropping your keys in the shadows but searching under the streetlight because you can see better there.

To make it more confusing, most (probably all) adjustable razors inherently change the blade exposure along with the gap.

That’s not to say gap doesn’t matter (it does), but it gets far too much attention simply because it is easy to see.

Comparing gaps across two different razor designs is almost totally irrelevant unless you are also comparing exposure, span, angle, etc.

Of course, there’s still no magic formula that fits everyone, but choosing razors based on the least-relevant parameter contributes a lot of the YMMV confusion.

How does the game change 84 compare to a Timeless 68 or 95 solid bar? I'm also looking at a blackbird, any comparison with this?

Thanks in advance.

Been lost in trying out new razors (modern & vintage, new for me) for the past couple months and haven’t had this piece in the rotation during that time. Today was the day. Man, a nearly effortless 3 pass shave that was smooth and relaxing. The RR GC .84 has just about the right combination in both smoothness and efficiency. Great balance with the Super Knurl handle and grip that means business. Just a regular, non-chalant, ho-hum shave that was uneventful. When you don’t have to think about your shave and just get it done in a relaxing kind of way, it means the razor is doing its job the way it was meant and designed to do. Superbly uneventful......

Totally. Really can't think of one aspect I'd change at all.

The Muhle R41 gave a superb shave that nearly lasted 16 hours with just a feint hint of stubble that showed up at about 11:30 this morning. So, this evening at 7:30, the stubble was still light but it was in full mode all over. Out came the GC .84 with the Super Knurl. Slapped the same Gillette Silver Blue from last night and nothing but smooth sailing. No irritation, nics, weepers, cuts, nada. The GC is a finely made tool that will give a man an honestly good comfy and close shave. Just a smooth and clean finish that set me up for a 3 finger serving of The MACALLAN Triple Casked Scotch 12 year vintage. Just as good or better than the shave. Life is good.....

Had Charles Roberts been alive, he would have switched from the Merkur 34C to a short handled Game Changer .84 and upped Method Shaving.

I'm this close to ordering one but might use that $50 towards charcoal goods razor. However, I have read the GC is just as good as CG and other 'high end' razors.

If you have your heart set on a Charcoal Goods then save the money, but if you don't, the .84 Game Changer is an amazing razor for the money! I rank it just under my .95 Timeless.

Had my first shave with the Gamechanger. 84 and it was very nice. Not as close or long lasting a shave as my Blackbird SB but still very good.
