YouTuber bashing on other forums, why?

Oh so true! It's a double sided coin with comments on YouTube to be sure. On the one hand it creates community and discussion same with forums like this. On the other the anonymity of the web makes it easy for people to show their worse selves. When reviewing products I would get comments about products questions etc and loved it. I would also get told how bias I am or how much weight to lose because some people suck.

Youtubrers taught me to wet shave so for that I am eternally grateful.

As others have already commented, YouTubers taught me how to wet shave, so I am grateful for that. BUT I mostly stopped watching because every review of any hardware or software product was positive. It seems like there was no differentiating between good, better, and best (subjectively). I no longer feel the need to buy every soap on the market, so watching reviews that say the product smells /shaves good isn't really useful anymore to me. The forums have so many facets and sub-forums that I can get as nerdy or stay as superficial as I want on any given day. But there is room for YouTube, forums, Reddit, websites, etc. Pick your poison. That's my 2¢.

Some if it most of them take the if you don't have anything nice to say .... and don't make negative reviews. Another issue is most soaps have been tried and are known so why try a soap known to be bad?

I never did reviews. The simple reason is because of this. Primarily, I refuse to take free gear in exchange for a positive review. I have been given samples in exchange for input, but never for a review. As such, I am not about to spend money on soap that is expected to under perform.

Most soaps today perform fairly well, with very minor let downs. To really do a "negative review" the soap has to really fall short. Nobody wants to intentionally spend money on garbage just to give the impression of balanced reviews.

So reviewers that pay for their products typically review good products they want to have in their den.

Think about your own den. How much garbage do you have laying around? How much crap have you spent money on to be thoroughly disappointed? How many mediocre products with decent performance overall, but could be better do you have?

I think the majority of us would only be able to really own the last statement, and most of us would provide a mostly positive review of those products with only minor caveats to point out issues.

Basic, really. And so easy to understand, it is difficult to empathize with anyone looking for negative reviews.

If you want to see more negative reviews, go buy a bunch of crap gear, and review it. Otherwise, you probably shouldn't expect anyone else to...

True, but people might spend money on an unknown product, try it, and then tell others what they found.

"What are some really good wetshaving products?"
"I am thinking of buying product X. How well does it perform?"

Two different questions. Someone asking the former will only want to see positive (and accurate) reviews. Someone asking the latter will only want accuracy, regardless of whether or not the reviews are positive.

Youtube definitely did not teach me how to shave. I was, however, exposed to some previously unknown products. Let's not forget the occasional childishness.
