Your thoughts on OneBlade

As you can see, there isn't much irritation there. All cartridge razors I've tried fail at giving me any kind of acceptable shave. I used top of the line electrics for the majority of my shaving life, until August of 2014. Took me a while, but the last few months my shaves have really improved. The ATT H1 and R1 are what I use now. Why would a SE or the oneblade be better?

well, one of the reasons people with facial hair like yours switch from a DE to a SE is because the DE blades tend to flex too much when it's cutting through course whiskers (aka blade chatter), unless you're using a DE razor like a slant that adds torque to the blade and makes it more rigid. I think a lot of people say that the ATT & wolfman DE razors help make the blade more rigid because of how they're designed.

will an SE give you a better looking shave for longer periods of time? I'm not too sure...

Ah, I wrote that before I saw your mention of the ATT R1 and H1, BeardFace. In that case, sounds like you do better with more-aggressive designs than I tend to. I had great experiences with the ATT slant design, which gives the blade nice rigidity. And you could try any number of approachable vintage SE options (Schick injectors, GEM 1912 or 1914). Basically, coarse whiskers are obviously tougher, and with less-sharp blades or less-rigid metal, tend to cause blades to chatter and tug, which leads to irritation and less-effective shaves. At least that's my best understanding these days.

I had the ATT S1 and S2, thats actually what I initially ordered. It shaved certain parts of my face sufficiently, but other parts not so good. I exchanged the for the R1 and H1 within stan's 30 day return/exchange policy.

You are correct that sharp blades work best. I was using polsilver si's for the longest time. I switched to feathers for the last month and now I just got some personna med prep's that have been excellent.

I am very interested in this razor. If you were gonna purchase now, would you do the 30 day trial offer? It basically says you pay $99 for the leather travel case, st james cream and after shave balm, and ej travel brush, and then if you decide to keep the razor you get charged $200 at the end of 30 days. If you don't keep it you're out the $99 and have to keep the products.

I also have a 10% coupon I could use instead of the other offer.

I would try it if I were you. If you use the 10% coupon and don't like it,you can always B/S/T it and recoup your money.

I also want to thank you for recommending the pannacrema nuavia over on the other forum. After 5 shaves with it, it has replaced SMN v3 as my go to soap/cream.

BeardFace, personally I'd just go for the normal $300 OneBlade purchase, and use the 10% coupon on that (better discount on the higher amount). I don't want much in that "bonus pack" of stuff apart from the holster, but I just got that separately. Buying the razor at its normal price gets you the 30-day risk-free return policy, and overall it just feels more straightforward to me (plus, again, better use of 10% off). But that's me. If you want the extras in that bonus pack, maybe the other offer would be better for you.

And glad to hear you're enjoying the Nuàvia! It's really fantastic, isn't it?

As an aside, I've had numerous barbers tell me to just grow a beard. I tried a "straight" shave at a barber in NYC and the guy couldn't shave my beard. He essentially gave up.

I doubt those older Italian or Turkish barbers would tell you this.

Order placed. Hope to get it by the end of the week. I really have doubts about this thing, but I couldn't ignore the positive reviews.

I enjoy this hobby very much, but unlike most, I'm just trying to find a setup that works best for me and going with it. The ATT H1 and R1 have been great and they're all I've been using since I bought them in May of 2105. I sold all my other razors recently.

I have 3 soaps (MdC, SMN, and Nuavia Rossa) and I'm ok with it. In fact, I want to get my selection down even farther. I barely use MdC anymore and I won't be buying it again. And I think the Nuavia soaps are even better than SMN, so that may be the only soap I have in my rotation soon.

If the OB works better than the ATT set I will most likely sell my ATT set and never go back to DE shaving. If the OB doesn't work, I think I'm gonna send it back and give the mongoose a try. I'm also waiting for wolfman razors waiting list to open up too.
