This morning I decided to go back to one of my favorite razors, my Wolfman OC loaded with a Feather, to compare my recent OneBlade shaves with a familiar baseline. (I also just missed the little bugger.) I'd say my time getting the hang of the Mongoose last week has improved my DE technique as well, because the shave with the Wolfman went very well: near-BBS in two passes, zero irritation, no nicks at all.
Very similar to what I've gotten from the OneBlade so far. Hmm.
This is the sort of comparison that keeps me thinking about how and whether the OneBlade fits into my roster. It gives a good, even great, shave, and with wonderful ease. That's not in doubt. But I got an equally great shave with my Wolfman DE this morning, and I enjoyed it a bit more because I was more engaged with the process.
Having another great razor is normally no cause for consternation; when it's a $300 investment, though, it makes sense to consider a little more carefully, which, obviously, I'm doing. I'll go back to a run of shaves with the OneBlade starting on Monday (I want to check out the Feather SS this weekend since I'll have extra time). I think I'm looking for just enough spark to charm me, at which point I think I'd be happy with the Wolfman and OneBlade as my primary weekday razors. We shall see!

David : DE shaving since Nov 2014. Nowadays giving in to the single-edge siren call.
Here's a suggestion David ( onethinline ) and take it or not for what it's worth...
You seem like a person that wants to use a meditative like skill with your razor. Something that demands attention and focus. The OneBlade doesn't offer that, as it gives a near perfect shave with hardly any focus or effort.
My suggestion is... Keep the OneBlade, for two purposes:
1. Use it for yourself whenever you are in a rush, stressed out, or tired. And if you ever get tired of being challenged by your hardware, the OneBlade will be there to give the same great shave without a struggle.
2. Keep the OneBlade to loan out to friends and family you are trying to convert to wet shaving. Most people do not want a challenge or feel they have to struggle learning a new skill. The OneBlade won't challenge them, and they'll be truly wowed by the better shave they've never had. The OneBlade is the perfect tool to make converts to wet shaving, and you can use it as such!

Both really good points, Len. I'm going to keep those in mind. Don't get me wrong, I like the OneBlade. I'm just deciding whether it's "me," if that makes sense. And like I said, I'm given to over-thinking things. You all are keeping me grounded.

Your first point is why I think it's going to be my daily...., I work rotating shift work at a nuke plant, so I'm always in a rush, stressed, and tired, and the oneblade has been helping me get out the door faster and with less effort.
