I'm curious: how does the OneBlade go over with the TSA as a carry-on? I know they're fine with cartridge razors, but get weird about DE blades. (I've heard some guys take injectors in their carry-on without incident, at least most of the time.)

if the TSA takes the razor, make sure they send it to my house please...

Lol....I used to just carry the razor in my backpack, but the OneBlade design always triggered curiosity from the TSA, which is why I now put it in my checked luggage.

Well guys, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited:

(Just so happened that my first vintage SE razor arrived today as well. I like seeing the two of these together as sort of a great-grandfather and prodigal son portrait.)

I'm very much looking forward to my first shave with it tomorrow morning, but already I'm very impressed by the presentation, looks, and feel of the OneBlade. It's beautiful. Everything feels very precise and elegant. The pivot feels good: not floppy at all. I'm also impressed by the balance of the razor in the hand; I assume the asymmetrical cut-out in the handle was used to set the balance just right. The shave surface also seems very clear and intuitive.

But of course, it'll all come down to how it shaves. I'm going to give it a series of shaves before I really decide. I certainly hope I like it, as it's a beautiful razor in all other respects.

when my wife and I were coming home from our Las Vegas/Flagstaff vacation a few months ago, I'm pretty sure one of the safety razors that my wife brought on the trip caused the TSA screeners to flag her bag and do a check on it.

30 days & GO!

Looking forward to hearing of your experiences with it.

First shave with the OneBlade this morning. Should I admit that I was excited enough to try it that I popped awake earlier than I normally would? No, I should not admit that.

Lathered up my brand new B&M Night Music (lovely scent, great slickness), confirmed that yes indeed, I AM able to remove the blade when need be (this was tricky at first), got it re-seated, and had at it.

The basic shaving ability isn't in question here. The OneBlade mowed down my whiskers readily, and with satisfying audible feedback. I wouldn't say it's as eager/efficient as, say, an R41 or what I imagine a Feather SS can do, but, especially going into the second pass, it ate up what was before it while seemingly determined not to irritate or nick. I also felt much more confident getting at problem areas like my chin and parts of my neck.

I found the shave surface very natural, and while the usual light pressure made sense, there were points where pressing in a bit seemed to help (I wouldn't add pressure through the whole shave, though). It's certainly more pressure than the super-light contact I've been working on with the Mongoose, and if I spend a lot of time with the OneBlade I'll be learning and entirely different set of manual instincts. The razor cruises around curves and forgives pressure: the analogy may be a (good) automatic transmission on a sports car.

Overall the feel is just different from my DEs, injectors and the Mongoose. It's got a relaxed, "no brainer," feel while still shaving effectively. It's too soon for any conclusions, but I already suspect if I were to have the OneBlade as my only razor, I'd miss the satisfaction of using (relatively) trickier, less "automatic" razors. Meantime, I'm gonna keep going with it over the next few weeks and see how it develops.

Two quick niggles: the design of the head makes edge trimming (sideburns in my case) trickier, and getting the hairs just beneath the nose on a WTG pass was awkward to say the least.

Wow that sounds great man. I never considered One Blade before but now I'm intrigued. Thanks for the insight.

I placed an order on Monday and knew the razor was due to arrive today. I was getting ready for my usual mid morning shave when I looked up and saw the FedEx truck at the curb. I took that as a good sign of things to come. Of course I had to try out the One Blade. I went all out with a Simpson Chubby2 Manchurian, Simpson Vanilla Rose cream to accompany the razor.
The shave went as well as could be expected, very close, very comfortable. Need to work on technique around my chin a bit but that will resolve itself with a few more uses. I'm sold even at its price point. I used the Feather blades that came with it and have a few GEMs on the way but the Feathers worked great. Now hopefully I can get about four uses out of each blade.

After ordering the razor on Monday I went back on their website a few hours later to look at something and a 10% coupon came up, something I had not seen earlier. I sent an email to the company and they responded quickly and gave me a refund for the coupon saving, not something every company will do.
