I’m sure you are right, Primo. It’s been years since I used Imperial Leather, so…. Also, I agree on Sheridan’s — a unique, highly enjoyable scent. I, for one, would be happy to know that it’s still available, if even under a different name.

The aftershaves would be nice to try, indeed. It’s disappointing that the rest of the world has a difficult time enjoying US-made artisan aftershaves, and vice versa.

It’ll be interesting to hear what Darron says. Thanks for looking into this!

I stand corrected.  Tongue

Here is an excerpt from Darron's email. BTW, very quick response.

"the Russian Leather is a different scent to the Sheridan's. I have looked at introducing the Sheridans to the 1912 range but it has the habit of turning the soap a very dark brown. It's something I want to try to avoid, so decided not to introduce it into the new soap. It is a big shame because Sheridans is a very nice full bodied Cardamom scent that smells divine and one that I would liked to have kept."

The Russian Leather smells divine too.  Big Grin

Thanks, primotenore. That really was fast! Smile

Cardamom, huh … I should have pieced that together. Personally, I wouldn’t mind a dark brown soap, but I’m sure Darron knows what he is talking about. (Just yesterday, I was reading reviews on how some Trumper creams leave coloring on badger brushes. On the other hand, Will of Barrister and Mann also recently said that a vinegar solution will get rid of any coloring some of his soaps may cause.)

Sounds like I need to savor what’s left of my Sheridan’s. But I’m glad to hear Russian Leather is great, too! Happy2

I can tell you from experience that cleaning the brush in a vinegar and water solution removes the color. I did this by accident with Night Music using a badger brush.

I'm now on my fifth scent of the 1912. The performance and post shave are outstanding from all. I especially enjoy the Citrus Musk and Classic 24. For me this soap is up there with SV, Nuavia, etc. etc.

I just received the Cashmere. Another wonderful scent and top notch performer. I find all the scents on the slightly darker side of the spectrum, and not too complex. The last tub came with a body soap sample of Magnum, which I hope becomes a shave soap scent soon. I wish I could describe the profile, Patchouli and Musk?, perhaps someone else with a better nose could help.

The soapmaker Darron is a treat to work with and has always been very responsive.[Disclosure] He was kind enough to use a couple of my pics on his website in return for a couple of tubs of 1912... I know I got the better end of that deal.

I see he's now offering $5.99 shipping from the UK.

Five deep — that, in and of itself, is a high endorsement! I actually just sold the unused Cashmere I had, because something in the scent profile just didn’t agree with me. (Something that hasn’t really happened with any soap before.) Will find another scent to try, because so many good things have been said about the 1912 formula, and I already like the Super Smooth formula a lot.

I couldn’t find the $5.99 shipping option on the site (w-soap.co.uk). It’s showing a $9.93 flate rate for me. In any case, glad to see this thread revived. Darron has added several new scents since becoming active again last year, and that Magnum sounds very promising. Hopefully it will make it into shaving soap form.

I just checked with Darron and he is making sure the postage rate is adjusted on the website.  BTW I see that Magnum will be made in a limited edition shaving soap available through some UK shave forums.

Thanks for looking into this, Chris.

In addition to his regular line-up, I’ve seen that Darron has been busy with at least one limited edition offering in a forum across the pond, but there are probably more. Oh well, even if one ever missed an LE, there are now plenty of standard scents to choose from.

Your wish seems to be coming true, as there is a multi-forum group buy coming together for this soap, across the pond…
