Bay Rum t. (Chiseled Face Groomatorium) timid bay rum

This is a mild bay rum loaded with lots of notes, none of which has the confidence to take center stage. Although the scent’s not annoying, I just can’t get excited about it. Bay rum should come out of the tub like cannon shot and disappear just as quickly. This bay rum has figured out the disappearing part, but there’s nothing brash about the beginning. Don’t count on this soap to wake you up on a dark fall morning. It’s probably best for a night shave when you’re looking for something mellow to lull you to sleep. The lather needs a good whipping, but what results is a medium grained emulsion with good gloss and very good cushion. All in all CF’s Bay Rum is a solid performer with an adequate but not intriguing fragrance. I keep it in the rotation mostly because I like the label.
