Shaving has so overtaken my life that…
· when I buy some shaving stuff I squeamishly tell my wife it is Talloween.
· I consider L’Institut Karite one of France’s finest research institutes.
· my wife admonishes me that “there is more to life than soft tips.”
· I forget that I am bald when I tell people I have a brush acquisition disorder.
· I considered developing a shea-bagel to go with shea-butter.
· the biggest insult to me is “hey, you forgot to shave” when I didn’t.
· my wife left me for a guy with a beard.

It's kind of fun. It's kind of pleasant (except when I screw up and nick myself).

But it's just shaving.

It is an enjoyable task, one to which I now look forward in the morning. It became much more affordable after switching to a safety razor and double-edge blades. But yeah, for me it is just shaving, too. I do it daily to look presentable, because it feels good having a smooth face, and out of force of habit.

I enjoy the ritual. Before wet shaving, shaving was a chore. Now it's the days meditation. Picking the blade, picking the soap, loading the brush, lathering, the 3 passes. I find it to be the most relaxing part of the day.

im totally focused on a singular thing when I am shaving.

I focus on the sound and scent when loading the brush. I bask in the scent while lathering. When doing my passes I'm laser focused on my technique (but love the sound of the whiskers being cut in the background.).

Shaving for me is a moments meditation.

Shaven in the Past
I agree. It's my morning hobby since retirement. I look forward to making my daily a.m. foray to the past with my various Gillette vintage. I enjoy collecting the various models and using them all (at least 5 times). I have my favorite 8 to 10 razor rotation with an occasional guest shaver for good measure. It keeps me out of trouble too.
