Amen to that Tone!  Nice thread and post. Your going to be a great asset to DFS and your right.

I've either participated or observed every shave forum since Charles Roberts got us rolling on MSN in the late 90's. DFS is clearly shaping up to be the finest of them all. A pure pleasure to be here. Happy2

Thank you Max!

That Bald Guy with the Big Beard
Bishop, CA
I have participated to some degree in most of the other forums out there, and DFS is, in my humble and personal experience, the best one.

Everything from overly restrictive rules to blatant product obstruction and post manipulation can be found out there. I've dealt with both true gentlemen, and complete tools. In my experience, DFS has the highest ratio of gentleman to tools, which means that most of the time, even controversial and passionate topics can be openly discussed and debated, without devolving to name-calling and petty bickering.

Yes, that other stuff happens, and I myself have been guilty of it, but generally speaking, this place does a really good job of controlling tone without controlling content, and I really appreciate that. And I don't just mean controlling by mods and admins, but also by members, controlling themselves when trouble makers arise, and actively working to maintain that spirit of mutual respect.

It's a good place to hang my hat...

Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.”  “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.

Much of it lives and breathes online over the internet obviously. Thank goodness for that; because this allows passionate people who love this hobby/art form/culture to commune with each other; to share their excitement, their questions, their discoveries, their personal ventures, and even their disappointments in Wet Shaving.

I realize and all of us must realize that this is a "gentleman's culture", period. However I have not only seen, and heard of, but have experienced personally some of the most childish and almost retarded behavior in this industry.

I say this and bring this to the stage because I am so thankful for the job that Andrew and the Mod staff here at DFS have done with this easy-going, fair, open-minded, gentlemans wet shaving community. I really enjoy myself here and would recommend this place to anyone who asked.

I'm sure many of us if not all who partake here feel the same.

Cheers!

Cheers brother!

I would say way beyond retarded rather than almost, and sometimes bullying, deceitful, and deeply sociopathic, as well. It has been going on in one form or another for over a decade, but that is starting to change. Other hobbies that revolve around consumer products can have the same problems as wetshaving, and to an even greater degree. Fortunately, this usually results in a group of people branching off and creating one or more better places. I agree with everyone else that DFS is one of those better places. I also think that the LAWSS is going to be very beneficial and a very positive development in the wetshaving world, yet another "better place".

I am a Damn Fine Shaver !!!
NY
I got a warm and fuzzy feeling when I got here also, but after a cool shower and a nice shave I knew I wasn't in Kansas anymore. As a matter of fact, I've never been to Kansas (nice place though it may be and no offense intended to the natives of that state)... but I am a damn fine shaver and this place feels like home - or something like that. Smile

Thank you, thank you very much Tbone. Ya know, I thought I was the only one who though of describing a lot of the B.S. that happens (somewhere else) as "sociopathic", but I am glad you used that term, because it describes a wholllllllle lot. LOL

One of the best shaving forums I have participated in; very relaxed atmosphere that allows some great discussions without being authoritarian. Shy
