Hey, Max, the view would be fabulous; let's take over some big snooty conglomerate so we can have our next meet-up on the 75th floor.  However, to keep us grounded, hawns has to order the barbecue, beer, pop, and bottled water. Tongue

The mods here are great; I respect Freddy, Matt is my buddy, Andrew is very personable and approachable so is Doug. I remember when I couldn't get in, and Andrew really helped me out even on Facebook....
It's not just you. The mods are so respectful and respectable on this forum that I feel like a total jackass anytime I get a friendly reminder that one of my posts might be walking a thin line.

In case y'all haven't noticed, I don't deal with condescension well. I have to restrain myself quite a bit when I read it, but the attitude of the mods and the other members that have earned my utmost respect deserve it, and so I do try my best to stay calm and respectable. It's not always easy, and I do't always win, but for some reason, they keep tolerating me here, so I'll keep trying...

Don't be so hard on yourself, Chris.  What makes you think we mods don't go through the same feelings and need for self control? Winking  What has been created here at DFS is that administrator, moderator, merchant, and general member, we are all members on an equal footing.  We think as members, we chat as members and we agree and disagree as members.  andrewjs18as the main administrator and tech whiz, keeps the site running smoothly.  Andrew, Matsilainen, wingdo, and I, as moderators, do our best to keep things on the straight and narrow without being too "in your face."  Merchants, ah our merchants (and, happily, too many to give an individual shout-out to).  Have you noticed how, even though they are here to present their wares, always seem to be members first?  I think that makes Damn Fine Shave very special.  When I was at the St. Louis Shave Meet-up earlier this month, I got to meet Rod and Mandy of Stirling Soap Co. (ezlovan), the guys at Black Tie Razor Company (dapper636 / dominicr) and, of course, Shawn (hawns) of Chatillon Lux who put on the meet-up, along with Jonathan of Sudsy Soapery (who I would love to see as a member/merchant here), and others.  The talk was open, relaxed, and knowledge based.  That is what those member/merchants, as well as our other member/merchants, bring to the site, as well.

Unfortunately, even in our more relaxed setting, there are always a few who take that relaxation as anything goes.  Sorry folks, it does not.  Just as we have freedom of speech in any democracy, it is still punishable to scream "Fire!" in a crowded theater. Thus, there are still lines that may not be crossed here.  Fortunately, we have mostly fantastic active members who just want to chat about shaving, and occasionally other interests, have a laugh, help, and learn.  Because of that, all of you make the site pretty easy to run and thank you for that.  As moderators, our final decisions will never please everyone every time but we try our best and that is the bottom line.

AWWWWW.... We love you Freddy Big Grin

You da' man!

Hey wait a minute... Wingdo??  Wingdo is a moderator?   ..sometimes when the sun is low and there is a cool breeze outside, I like to look out my wingdo

I'll chime in here. When I joined as a brand new member, I got off a bit on the wrong foot. While my intentions were good, I went about things in the wrong way. The mods let me know this instead of banning me. I'm happy it worked out as I now spend more time here than on any other forum, and I'm feeling good about it.

we definitely try to avoid banning people and we certainly give the people who we have been banned a lot of rope before it reaches its end.

Pardon me, my good man, but would you happen to have some Grey Poupon? Smile

I love the references to the "75th floor." At one time, I worked on the 75th floor (literally) of the only building in Seattle that has 75 floors.

Now I work for a non-profit on the first floor, in a building that has one floor. I'm much more comfortable there. I am also more comfortable on this forum, as compared to another I won't name, but which I still frequent. I am always concerned about my behavior on that forum, as I've been disciplined several times. It's much like how I used to feel about how I dressed (are my shoes shiny enough?) on the 75th floor.

Has anyone actually been banned from here? If they have I guess I didn't notice.
