I rinse after I shave, dry the outside with a towel, and place it in my razor stand.  Never had any rust or discoloration.  I only use a blade 4 times, then clean my razor thoroughly before installing a new blade.

We did a poll a few years back on whether people disassembled the razor after every shave or not. I’ll try to find it and post the link

The only razors I do not take apart, rinse, and dry are the Schick injectors.
If it has a Hydro-Magic head, then I'll at least open that up.

My face would be badly broken out if didn't thoroughly clean both blade and razor then dry and tore separately between shaves. Know this from experience

Would strongly suggest many will not purchase a used quality razor treated less carefully and for good reason.  Do what you will but many choose to carefully care for their tools and instruments.

I even thoroughly clean and attempt to strop carts when used although it much tougher to get great results as they designed to encourage consumption

I respect those who dissemble and dry their razors and blades, and especially when doing that helps their skin. But I know that if I tried to do that on weekday mornings when I’m trying to get to work and have a ton on my mind, I would cut myself at least weekly.

FWIW, here's the Gillette instructions for a 1963 Slim Adjustable:

So, No and Yes.

Quote:5. Don't wipe your blade after shaving.
Wiping a blade can damage the shaving edge. Slightly open the razor, rinse under hot tap and shake off surplus moisture.
6. Take care of your razor.
Occasionally clean your razor using water, soap and a brush. Remember, a razor is a precision instrument Careless handling may damage it and ruin its efficiency.
No doubt if they wanted to tout the convenience of their product, they might just downplay any detailed maintenance beyond what they said.
Also, those instructions were aimed at guys who simply wanted to get the job done as quickly as possible, using the same razor day after day.
"Shaving hobbyists" such as ourselves are more likely to treat razors and blades more carefully and deliberately. Also, many of us have multiple razors that may sit on the shelf for days or weeks between shaves.

Well, that was something.
They didn't seem to have any results for a slicing technique (eg Gillette "Slide" or a slant razor), only chopping.
