I do not like using unscented soaps; I enjoy the aroma of a beautifully scented soap too much to miss out on that part of the shave.

However, I do have sensitive skin due to Rosacea and have to be mindful of the scents I use. I have trouble with any scent that has a high concentration of lemon, lime, grapefruit, cinnamon, cloves, peppermint, etc. These are all common sensitizers. I do have scents that contain these scent notes as long as the concentration is low. Thus, I tend to do a lot better with scents that are a complex blend of many scent notes rather than those that are more simple. With a complex scent artfully blended from a collection of scents, no single scent note is strong enough to be problematic. However, there are a few simple scents that do work for me such as pure lavender....just lovely.

Remember that some soaps contain basic ingredients that can be sensitizers or even allergens. Lanolin and glycerin are two possibilities. You did not list the soaps you have used recently that caused irritation. While it might be the scent that irritated your skin, it might be once of the soap ingredients. If you would provide a listing of the soaps that caused you problems I will check the ingredient list to see if there are any I recognize as potentially problematic.

RayClem very nicely summarized! Between rosacea, a scent-free work environment, and a wife prone to sinus headaches from strong scents, I've learned to be happily unscented! But I do miss some that I tried early on ?

My vote is for Soap Commander Integrity and Stirling Beeswax.

I'm a fan of unscented soaps. I do enjoy the aromas of the soap filling up the bathroom but I can also enjoy the shaving experience solely without any scents involved.

Couple of my favorites are Southern Witchcraft Incorporeal, Stirling Sheep, and Noble Otter Bare.

The Dr.Harris Almond barely has any smell, works great and very sparingly, also recently discovered fantastic cream in the tab from The Body Shop -

The Body Shop Maca Root

Been a long time since anyone has mentioned Maca Root but I don’t recall anyone ever reporting sensitivity issues with it.  Great cream by the way.

If there is a fragrance you like and whose ingredients your skin tolerates, you can add a few spritzes or drops of it to your unscented soap lather. This works well with colognes and EdTs but not so well with aftershaves.
