I have a sample from Pasteur's that I have yet to try. Maybe I should tomorrow!
From Pasteur's website:

Shave from a sheet of paper? Hard to believe, but Martin de Candre did it!

Compact, lightweight, this innovative sampling version will allow you to test our shaving soaps before stopping your choice on a suggestive scent. Depending on your taste for the foam, these samples shaped as envelopes will allow you to perform 7 to 12 shavings, and even more for some!

Here again you will be able to observe the legendary foam of this soap whose extraordinary qualities make it famous all over the world … A few rounds of shaving brush, and voilà: the film of dried soap quickly gives way to a thick layer of abundant and smooth foam that will give you a memorable shaving with the scent of your choice!

This innovative packaging is offered in a cardboard case in which is folded a sheet of paper impregnated with our shaving soap; all you have to do is pass your wet shaving brush on the impregnated side of the sheet and create the foam. You can dry the sheet between uses and keep it in its original case.

Here is the setup for tomorrow

That is an interesting way to deliver a sample. However, it looks really messy. Did it work out better than it looks?

It did work out, but you are correct, it was messy as I started at an edge. Then I had to find a a surface to put it on so it can dry.

I think after it dries I will try carefully scraping it into an empty tub.

I really have enjoyed Noble Otter Bare as well. I have tried samples of several other NO scents but had to buy a tub of Bare to try it out.
I am glad I did. It lathers easily.
Now I just have to figure out the next tub to order. Thé Noir et Vanille was one of my favorite samples so far so it may be the next tub.
