What will it be? A blade made of or coated with some synthetic material that will last a year? A synthetic fiber that retains water & heat like the best hair brush? How about a laser razor?

I think that any real improvements with soaps/creams will be more aesthetic than performance wise.
At this point I will state that IMO the biggest breakthrough in the past five years at least has been the rapid and incredible advent of synthetic brushes and moreso how each successive "generation"of such has been beyond belief.
I remember reading the following link a few years back and thinking that it was the next big breakthrough, but nothing else has been heard:
