While I never did take to the stainless steel Mongoose, my last three shaves have been with the new AlumiGoose (fitted with a Feather Pro), and these have gone much better than the SS one ever did! I've run into a few weepers, particularly on the first shave (and then, from ATG under the chin; a tricky area for me), but these seem clearly due to my getting to know the razor. I'm not getting the irritation I got from the stainless version, and while the head sometimes seems to drag on my face more than the SS, overall the AlumiGoose is light and nimble the way I like my razors. I have to think the blade angle/exposure/gap is adjusted here, too, as I don't think this is any more aggressive than something like my Wolfman OC, though it's shaving very efficiently.
My guess is that once I've mastered the AlumiGoose I'll be getting close, problem-free shaves with it. And that should be soon. I still prefer truly mild, carefree razors like my OneBlade or AS-D2, but I have to say I'm glad to have a Mongoose/Cobra-style razor that's working for me.
