While I never did take to the stainless steel Mongoose, my last three shaves have been with the new AlumiGoose (fitted with a Feather Pro), and these have gone much better than the SS one ever did! I've run into a few weepers, particularly on the first shave (and then, from ATG under the chin; a tricky area for me), but these seem clearly due to my getting to know the razor. I'm not getting the irritation I got from the stainless version, and while the head sometimes seems to drag on my face more than the SS, overall the AlumiGoose is light and nimble the way I like my razors. I have to think the blade angle/exposure/gap is adjusted here, too, as I don't think this is any more aggressive than something like my Wolfman OC, though it's shaving very efficiently.

My guess is that once I've mastered the AlumiGoose I'll be getting close, problem-free shaves with it. And that should be soon. I still prefer truly mild, carefree razors like my OneBlade or AS-D2, but I have to say I'm glad to have a Mongoose/Cobra-style razor that's working for me.

onethinline: Did you ever get a Mongoose blade sampler to try in one of your Mongoose razors? If not, I'd highly recommend it, specifically the Kai Captain Titan Mild blade works wonderfully for me in either my SS Mongoose or my AlumiGoose. While I can use the Feather Pro blade, I find that nicks and irritation are more common for me with that blade, whereas the Kai blade is much more forgiving for me yet still provides BBS results very easily. The two 'guard' blades (both Kai and Feather) also work well for me.

Glad to hear that you're getting better results with your AlumiGoose. I really love my AlumiGoose as well, it's my daily go-to razor. I have it on a Jürgen Hempel titanium handle for slightly more heft versus the stock aluminum handle.

AndyH_STi great feedback. I just received my Alumigoose 2 this week and picked up a Mongoose sampler pack from TryABlade . Appreciate the blade overview!

Yep, I did indeed get a sampler pack from TryABlade. I just haven't spent enough time with either 'Goose yet to get to rotating into those blades. I went with the Feather AC Pro when starting with the AlumiGoose since I wanted to compare directly to what I'd used in the Mongoose. I'll give the Titan Mild a try next, though.
