I can't praise that best badger in Kotibe highly enough. An inexpensive brush with totally hooked tips that stick together like glue when wet and provides and exceptionally soft lather application.

I've had mine for close to a year and have never shed a hair from it. One of the best brushes I own, for sure!

I posted the following review along with photos on the New York wet shaves forum (and tried to use it as a review on eBay …. but they never posted it …. they seemed to refuse it for some reason I to fail to comprehend).

This is the Brush that made me reconsider Boar shaving brushes.

I've been a confirmed badger brush wet shaver for several decades. I've tried all the best and own many badger brushes and even some of the newer and greatly improved synthetic brushes. The aesthetically pleasing appearance and the great price (even if at the higher end of what most boar brushes sell for) made me decide to finally buy this boar brush. I did some research, so I was prepared for everything from the notoriously funky smell to the initial stiffness and limited lathering ability...... prior to the necessary break in period for most boar brushes.

Well this brush never stunk! And while the very first attempt at lathering was not on a par with my Rooney and Simpson badger brushes, it was respectable. But after about a week of use it is magnificent! And it just keeps getting better. A bit like the difference between spruce top and cedar top classical guitars...... if you know what I mean.
I love this brush, and highly recommend it to anyone that either already digs boar brushes or is considering investigating them. They are a different animal (pun intended) than badger..... but a great variation. Now I still love badger brushes (in fact this Zenith is so nice that I ordered a two band Manchurian Zenith from this great vendor and will review it at a later date) but this brush has converted me to a boar brush connoisseur!

Great product, at a great price with wonderful service. Unless you're going to Italy anytime soon you'll not find a better deal. Bite the bullet and purchase one .... before they are all gone :-)

I just relisted a few B14 Big Scrubby 28 x 50 boar brushes.



I had these made special. It's a short version of their pro boar brush. They made it without the nickel ring, so that a larger (28mm) knot could be put in. It's a larger version of the B2 brush that I've been recommending for face lathering but with an even shorter loft. This is a very short brush for a boar knot this size. Effective loft is 41-43mm with glue bump.

Short and Scrubby Boar Shave Brush. 24mm X 48mm. Made in Italy by Zenith. B17

I had this created as an homage to the 2013 Barbear Classico Cerda that was created by Semogue for the Portuguese forum of the same name. Many consider that brush as the finest face lathering boar brush ever made. It certainly is my favorite brush from Semogue. I like it better than the 620, 2000 and SOC.

Unfortunately, the Barbear Classico is no longer available. This Zenith brush is an homage rather than trying to replicate it. Obviously the looks are different with the dark stained wood, ergonomic handle, and natural rather than dyed bristles of the Semogue. I also went with a 24mm knot because Zenith brushes splay less than Semogues. The loft is set at 48mm with a 41-43mm effective loft from the glue bump.

Because of this shorter loft it will take longer than other Zenith brushes to break in. It should be one the scrubbiest Zenith brushes (the other is Big and Scrubby B14 Aluminum handled one), but because of the finer bristles, it won't fully match the Semogue in scrubbiness.

That said, this brush is one of my all time favorites from Zenith.
