I'm sorry, I just saw this. I actually don't know. I've never tried a Thater. The Zeniths tend to be softer and have a more broken in feel than other brushes that I've used.

They compare very well. Zenith are wonderful boar brushes and great value. The tips I feel are softer on the Zenith than the Thater and the Thater handle is very well made but it's almost three times the price. I enjoy both but I would be very happy to own just the Zenith. And Michael is wonderful to deal with.

Besides, why would anyone pay $85 for a boar brush when a Zenith is just as good if not better?

Exactly. I love my Thater badgers but this is too much. I like a nice handle as much as the next guy but at the end of the day for me its really about the knot and I can get really excellent boar brushes for $15-$30. That being said, I know that a lot of guys are really into handles as evidenced by the beautiful SOTD posts and this gives them some boar options. I'm not seeing many Semogue 1305 SOTD posts - great brush by the waySmile

I see several on EBay. Is that where you are getting the Zenith boar brushes?

Yes on ebay!! Yesterday I did a side-by-side comparison with the Zenith B20 and the Thater boar 4125. Overall I really like the Zenith even more,, it has better backbone and even softer tips but the Thater still an excellent brush.

That’s good to know. I now own 2 of the Thater’s (which were my first boar brushes). I have been wanting to pull the trigger on a couple of the Zenith boars for a while now as I really like their Manchurian 2 band brushes.

Currently I'm only selling on ebay. I'm working on a dedicated ebay store and hope to get an online store soon. Zenith's boars is THE reason that I started importing them.

Hi jankdc

How different would you say the knot of this brush from this one? I have the former, and I love that; but my limited den space means I can't have two (almost) same brush with different handles.
