The Den Cleanout Challenge

I'll definitely be using some "cheats" to get through the majority of soaps.  I will continue to load heavy and will likely bloom more often.  But the stockpile had gotten so bad that even with heavy loading/blooming, my grandchildren may set for life when it comes to shave soap

It was somebody over on B&B who said "Load it like you hate it".
I started doing that to the Proraso Green croap, and now I rather like it.

So do you now load it differently now that you like it ?

BOOM ! And now you're set for another 9 days  Heal up !!

Once they allow me to remove the JP drain, i'm hoping I don't have more than 1 or 2 consecutive "no shave" days!

Yup. A heaping 1/4 teaspoon (used to be a slightly rounded teaspoon) of it mashed into the bottom of the bowl plus a bit of water, blooming while I shower, then whip it up with the brush.
Plus I took a chance and bought the matching aftershave, and now I really like that.

A couple of years ago, Shannon's became one of my most used soaps.  Then the SAD kicked in and Shannon's started sliding to the rear of the shelf.  It's still one of my favorite bases and choosing a scent wasn't easy...i really considered Black Magic, Indigo Oud, Forest City Fern and Woodlands.  Not exactly sure why I ended up choosing Botanica but, honestly, there was no wrong choice here

they were making a soap for timeless razors at one point I think - and they might still be - that smelled fantastic.  I can't remember the name of it off hand but we had it in 1 of the Movember boxes a few years back.

Was it Etherea?

That's the one!  I still need to try Ethera

Difficult to see but that is Bay Rum.  I bloomed the soap today and did so with very hot water...not one of my brightest ideas   The top of the soap was slightly metled but after a good hundred swirls, it did produce a fantastic lather.  This might be a good technique to add to John Rose's "load it like you hate it" method

The splash level continues to drop but the soap level doesn't seem to have moved. I need to measure this one before using it again to see how much i'm actually using per shave

How was the Maximo Gomez? First Canadian is one of those artisans that I always wanted to try a while ago as I was getting into the hobby, but just never got around to picking any up
