I’m familiar with the Nimitz incident, and I have no doubt at all that it actually happened. A similar incident happened to a few Air Force friends of mine off the East coast of Canada a few years ago. Crazy stuff.

That's very interesting. This is the first credible story I've seen having followed the topic from the bleachers since I was a teenager. Reading that just made it that much more so. Not pretending to know what's going on, but it's interesting for sure.

This reminded me of a driver I saw in Finland in the late eighties or early nineties. Finns are good drivers in general, but I think this guy overrated his own skills just a bit – he was eating a hamburger and reading a newspaper while driving!

Anyway, sorry for the offtopic. Apparently, it’s not only scents that bring back memories, but random forum comments, as well! Smile

But did the burger have a fried egg on it?

Thankfully, it did not. Big Grin If you remember the restaurant chain Carrols, it was their equivalent of the Big Mac. Still can’t fathom that experience – seeing a hamburger-eating, newspaper-reading fool slowly drift into our lane in his big car…

From UFOs to crazy drivers, the Tallow + Steel thread has it all!

Ryan, Hate to bother you with all you have going on, however, is Yakushima still planned for a July release? Thanks! By the way, the website is in a league of its own! Outstanding!

Perhaps the thing with Madagascar is that it’s throwing so much at me at once. Smile I do think it’ll grow on me, though. Today, I opened the splash just to get a whiff, and was able to pick up the vanilla for the first time. Hopefully more of the various nuances of the scent will present themselves over time. I think that that might then help me sense the whole scent in a different way, too. I’ll keep you posted, and once again, props for making such marvelous products. The soaps often get the attention, but your splashes are tremendous, as well!

No problem - thanks for posting your thoughts! I like to hear all feedback both good and bad. I’m glad you like the splashes!

Hi Luke,

Definitely not bothering me! I like chatting here. Yep, probably mid-late July now. It will launch along with a brand new product - a little something for those with beards.

Thanks for the comments on the website! I’m glad you guys are liking it.

I find the same with Himalaya in V2, it just always seems just a bit creamier.

They absolutely can have an effect on the base. You’re right about Himalaya, I find the same thing. It’s the best performing scent  Huh for me too.

Ryan @ Tallow + Steel l I just wanted to double check that the West Indies is now all in v3. Just checked the store and it has the old labels.

And a small tale on my shaving journey. I started using a straight razor a few months ago, and it's been an uphill battle. Nothing about it came easy, and soap was the hardest part. Now for whatever reason I just didn't get on with T+S and a straight. Since I'd been in the US I picked up a few other soaps to try, and admittedly had better luck. Well now that I'm getting a feel for it. I decided I'd give Kyoto a try. Right now my biggest issue is I just have very course hair, and have had an incredibly hard time being able to do the first pass with a straight. (Yes I know to use a DE for that, but of course I want to move past it.)

Well Ryan I have to say, your soap and my skin and hair just seem to get on well, because the soap seemed to genuinely soften my beard and the last couple of shaves have been the best I've had with a straight by far. I'm really happy about this, because T+S has always been my #1 soap and I didn't like it being supplanted.
