4 samples arrived. Scent-wise, Leviathan is by far the most interesting of the bunch. Coffee, leather, Russian tea?, sandalwood. I immediately had to acquire a full sized tub and splash,

The Noble Otter samples are over the top floral… not sure about these :/

Nordost is super nice. Almost identical in scent to Lucky Tiger splash

Leviathan and Nordost are two of my fav’s.
I’ve got the otter Rawr. Kind of hard to describe. I like it though. If wat a sample I can send one your way. Nice soap base.

Thanks for the offer my friend! I actually use to own Rawr and really liked it. It was a pretty unique scent. Appreciate the offer though!

Razor: Blackbird OC
Brush: Trotter w/ Manchurian T1 Knot
Soap: Noble Otter Monarch (sample)
Aftershave: Floid
Blade: Kai

Super close shave this morning before heading off to work. The Blackbird OC is not the smoothest driver I own, but does give me a crazy close shave each time. The head reminds me of the moss rake I got for Fathers day years back. NO Monarch was fun to try and I could faintly pick out the lavender, coffee, powder, cognac and florals. The Floid splash complimented it well.

Hope everyone is having an excellent week so far. Be safe, stay positive, enjoy great shaves!

Your brushes are very beautiful! The coin in the handle made them even more interesting (at least for me). Your badger knot makes a very strong impression on me. It blooms very beautifully and I think it works just as well. But , as I understand it , now this node is not for sale ... Very sad for me . While I was waiting for the right handle for me, I ran out of knots... I'm frustrated...

Hello. Thanks you for the kind words. I have already ordered more 26mm Manchurian T1 Fan knots and they should arrive with in the next couple weeks. Once I have them in-hand, I will offer them with a handle purchase in my Etsy Shop.

Thanks
Paul

Razor: Rex Envoy
Brush: Elite
Soap: AA Shaving - Oak Ash Thorn
Aftershave: AA Shaving - Oak Ash Thorn
Blade: Kai

Austin at AA Shaving is an Artisan soap maker who lives less than an hour south of me on Whidbey Island, WA. We connected through Instagram and have been chatting a bit… mostly geeking out on soaps, etc.

He was kind enough to surprise me with a box of goodies including McDuff soaps and his very own soap and splash.

His offering is titled “Oak Ash Thorn”. And the title is accurately named for the amazing scent profile. Off the puck I get a perfectly warm, natural oak…. followed with green thorn/woodsy notes and smoke.

The soap consistency is hard and right off the bat, I could tell this was a very thirsty soap. That said, it lathered up quickly and the scent profile opened up even more. This is a very unique scent and quite manly!

The lather quality was exceptional in every category. I was a bit blown away to be honest in how protective and slick it was. Lots of cushion and it held together well for 4 full passes. Post shave was elite-level all the way.

I would highly recommend this soap base to folks here on DFS. I’m not sure what other scents he offers, but Oak Ash Thorn is one that will be in my permanent rotation.

Thanks again Austin! AASHAVING

Austin do you happen to have an ingredient list posted anywhere for your soaps/splashes?
