Scentsless Shaver

Being Scentsless (nod to PAA CaD314 for that clever title!), I only have Ethos Clean. But your comment on the tub is dead on for me.

I love the scent of Vespers. That is my Christmas Day shave.

Razor: Tatara Nodachi
Brush: Trotter Handcrafts - Sea Glass w/ 26mm Trotter Manchurian T1 knot
Soap: B&M Figarose
Aftershave: B&M Figarose
Blade: Kai

A new set of B&M Figarose arrived yesterday. Scent is nothing short of a masterpiece. I mostly get a natural rose, very similar to Thayers Rose Witch Hazel (one of my favorite Products). There are some light hints of wood and fig, but those notes are pretty well hidden behind the amazing Rose. I will be searching for a back-up set of this one. Nice work B&M!

The Tatara continues to impress me. Just a fast, smooth razor. Not sure if the Kai blade was the best match-up though. I also found the Kai blade was a tight fit in the razor.

Have a great day Gents.

Hey Paul, I promised to trade notes about loading the Dragonsbeard F Base, which I shaved with last night.  (The shave is posted here).  I chose a 26mm DSCosmetic Two Band Silvertip, the fan diameter of which is not much smaller than the tub even when dry, and which equals or exceeds the tub when wet and loaded:

I did not have any difficulty loading the brush.  As a matter of fact, I overloaded it, as this was my first use of the F base Dragonsbeard, and I misjudged the amount on the brush.  I can think of two possible reasons why my load experience was so different from yours.  First, depending on the feel of the brush on the puck, I sometimes scatter about 10 drops of water (≈ 0.5ml) on the puck at some stage of the load.  I did that three times during this load (which was at least one time too many, as I wound up with gobs of extra lather).  Second, while I love this brush, it is not SHD, which may in some strange way account for why it loaded so well.

One other thing - not load related - but as I have said elsewhere and FWIW, this F Base Dragonsbeard is the real deal in my book.  Performance/Scent/Post:  It does it all for me.

Nice write-up Mike! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me. I’m slowly warming up to Dragonsbeard. I think the soap base and post-shave are killer. I’m not hot on the scent, but it is unique enough to keep my attention.

I'm glad the Tatara continues to impress.  As for Figarose, I love the scent too.  If I close my eyes, it's like I'm standing in front of a rose bush.
