Very interesting handle, it almost, with that background, made my eye think that the handle was broken!

I had to change plans today, and I didn't get to test out Cities from Space. Tomorrow, I promise! I did set another G5A knot, this one a 28mm, that I put into a maple handle from you, one I had listed earlier. I had 4 knots and 3 handles in the work area downstairs, and was just plopping knots in handles, more for sizing than anything, as 2 knots I am interested in putting into handles are Sold Out right now. Well, in goes the G5A into that shorter, high gloss maple and Shazam, we bonded. It is setting now, with silicone. I have yet to do an epoxy, as so far the silicone has been holding nicely, and allows me to redo anything that doesn't feel right enough to me. That was the case with Communion. I love the handle, but the Timberwolf and the Black & White aren't "it". So I want to try a Cashmere, SynBad, or 2BED in it. And I am trying to save on shipping and just order a bunch of knots rather than 1 at a time! So Communion is on injured reserve, awaiting a knot that has yet to be ordered.

But back to the point: interesting optical delusion on that handle!

Grrr… I had a feeling the $29 Semogue 2-band from Amazon was too good of a deal. The brush handle arrived with 4 or 5 sizable dings and the base is cut uneven. Super sloppy craftsmanship here. Must have been a bad day at the Semogue factory for whoever put this one together. It’s likely going back to Amazon, although I’m tempted to smash the handle and use the knot in one of my handles.

But hey, it’s Friday. So I’ll cheers my Keystone Light to that.

Yikes, that really bites. Hopefully everyone doesn't have the same situation, otherwise they knowingly sold defects without stating it.

I'd be inclined to see if they'll send you another one in exchange, so you can keep the deal. Sometimes, if you get lucky, you can still get good CS at Amazon. Not like it used to be, but it still exists.

Well, at least you have the beer. Lol. Off to grab an Octoberfest myself. Happy Friday!

Edit: Additionally, you could sand down the base to an even level and call the dings "character". Lol.

So Eric was kind enough to send me this very interesting knot. Sounds like it wasn’t a good fit for him… and have read other reviews that led me to believe this was one of those love or hate products.

First thing I had to do was snag a 28mm handle out of the old Etsy Shop and claim it as my own forever. Haha. For some reason the Sea Glass handle never sold and I’m kinda glad it didn’t. I use to make a lot of handles for 28mm knots, but the masses seem to like the 24mm or 26mm size more.

Out of the box, the G5A knot is very short with a crazy glue bump that flares out pretty wide. It has significantly less loft/height than any other synthetic I’ve tried. It also has quite a bit of springy backbone so I really had to press hard while face lathering. Since it’s a synthetic and not a badger, I didn’t feel bad to smash it into my face with some force. It was a great performer for me since I like a short loft in my brushes. If you like a lot of loft and splay, look elsewhere… this is not the knot for you. But personally, I loved it and it’s a solid keeper for me! Thank you again Eric!

You are very welcome, Paul! I have a 26mm set super high, and I like it. I had the 28mm set as high, but it did everything you described above. I didn't love it. I knew that I wouldn't reach for it, and some posts recently had me thinking you might like it, so very glad that worked out, as well as the Sea Glass handle, in which the knot looks great!

Hey Paul, you mentioned once awhile back about razor stand for the Yates stubby handle. I am interested in getting one. I have been using the Sabre this week, and I like having it in a stand. Any thoughts? Thanks, man!
