Yes, I plan to order a Game Changer when they come in. I also plan to order another Mamba.

Really, for the cost of a 6S, you can get a Mamba and a GC to cover a similar range, and get an extra handle in the deal.

Experimenting with a Parker Variant and open comb, I’ve found that it’s good to have several levels of aggressiveness available, but I don’t need infinite adjustability. I also learned I don’t really like the feel of satin chrome for shaving (although the graphite Variant is a very nice razor). I like polished stainless better than satin or polished chrome.

I’ve found that I often like to shave with two razors, the Mamba plus something more aggressive. Sometimes that’s leading off with the Mamba and (if I feel like it) using something more aggressive on the trouble spot. Sometimes I start off aggressive and then use the Mamba for gentle touch up.

Otoh, some days it’s nice to give the face a break without looking like it.

Either way, for “that one spot”, I haven’t yet found anything that does not require multiple passes. Variant wide open, slant, open comb, sharp blades, nothing avoids the need to stretch the skin different ways and shave from different directions to get everything. The same spot always gave me ingrowns with a cartridge or electric.

If I had to pick one razor for the ultimate shave, maybe that will be the GC (time will tell). If I had to pick one and only one desert island razor to use every day for the rest of my life, the Mamba would probably be it. Other razors may shave more efficiently, but my face would not necessarily want an efficient shave every day.

Here’s the thing though. I don’t have to pick one. I can use two razors to shave with in one day, or pick the one I feel like using.

To me, the question is what other razor do I want to pair with a Mamba.

Like I said, for the price of a 6S, you could get the Mamba and a GC and be better off (imho).

If I have to spend a week on that desert island without shaving, I’d want to use an open comb when I returned (currently a Parker 24C with a Razorock handle).

I’ve learned that whenever I try to find that one tool that will do all jobs, I waste a bunch of money only to learn (again) that it’s best to use the right tool for the job, and a few simple tools will cover a lot more range than one super tool that tries to do it all.

Four razors would cover it all.

In priority order, that would be:

1) A super-smooth, mild, reasonably efficient daily driver: Mamba has a lock on this, hands down.
2) A more-efficient but still smooth straight bar: Game Changer? Shimmed Mamba? Something else?
3) An open comb: Parker 24C/26C (with a slightly less aggressive handle - the knurling on mine is SHARP), though a Fatip or vintage Gillette might be reasonable contenders.
4) A slant: Wunderbar?

Of course, two would really cover most of that same ground. For me, the Mamba would certainly be one of those, and it is likely to be the one I stash away from home to replace the VDH/Weishi and Mach 3.

In all candor, the Mamba with a KAI, or either of my Parkers (Variant and open comb) with a Persona Red could all be my one and only. They each have their own virtues, but we are splitting hairs over an embarrassment of riches. They are all damn fine razors (though I do think the RR barberpole handle is a big improvement on the OC).

I have the Razorock Slab and it's mild to medium with an Astra or Personna. If I use a GSB or Feather the aggression level goes up(more blade feel) As per Nick Shaves video on the game Changer prototype,he said it was a tad more aggressive than the 34C HD in his opinion.


I've seen CDB's video and he just said it was mild and smooth. I know the GC will be tough to get for awhile but obtainable. Frank M.

I doubt it will be gone in the first hour as we are hard at working machine 1000 sets. Unfortunately, they take time , a lot of setups and processes to machine top, base and handle, and then there is the finishing is takes a bunch of time. Trust me, I wish it was faster.
