Are there any soap scents that I should avoid if I have sensitive skin?

You really have to experiment to figure out if there are any scent ingredients that you're allergic to (I assume it's an allergy, but don't really know). The one that sets my face burning every time is coffee (which is unfortunate as it's one of my favorites), but the burn strength varies from soap to soap. I've had problems with some makers' leather, but not others.
Everyone's skin is different. My skin is sensitive and I have to avoid lime, lemon, grapefruit, peppermint, clove and cinnamon. However, I am able to tolerate small amounts of these scents in a well blended, complex accord. Thus, I have to skip scents where these scent notes are predominant. I look for complex scents with numerous scent notes since I know that none of the individual notes will be strong enough to cause a problem. I have had to toss a couple of soaps with strong clove content since
However, you might be sensitive to other things. Some people are sensitive to lanolin, oakmoss, etc. If you have a severe nut allergy, unrefined jajoba oil might trigger a reaction.
You reallay have to experiment to learn what works for you and what does not. If your face is highly sensitive to certain scents, you might want to apply lather to the inside of your elbow before applying it to your face.

I reported it to Maggard that it may be a bad batch but not the original manufacturer. Maggard responded that they had not received other comments about this issue. There has since been another person who reported the same issue in a review on the site. I may follow up.

Glad you chimed in! As mentioned, dfoulk praises your soaps which carries great weight having handled virtually every soap available on the market conducting a massive passaround for years prior to starting his own soap company.
Suspect may miss some but here goes:
Boreal - by far least lit up
Himalaya
Madagascar
Maya
Morocco
RainForest
West Coast IPA
West Indies
The only other soap that has ever lit me up, and it was quicker and worse than T&S, was Mitchell’s Wool Fat. Literally had to wash it off with nary a touch of the razor.
As stated, your Japanese themed releases are incredibly appealing as is Sicily but concerned will be money out of hand. Some have suggested may be the scent components contained in the soap but they not experts. My concern it resides in a base ingredient but then not an expert either.
Thoughts? Possible solutions? Love Canada and all things Canadian from having lived there - would love to give you some of my business
Yeah David is a real soap wizard! I think he said that he has has tried 600+ soaps.
I'm not really sure, as all of those scents use a variety of different oils at different strengths. It could be something in the soap formula itself that doesn't agree with you. Besides a few customers with Maya, I have never heard anyone having an issue with any of the others you listed.
Reach out to me by email. If you're interested, I will send you an unscented to try to see if the problem is an ingredient in the soap formula.
Cheers
I have reported to Tallow & Steel - on the maker's merchant subforum on DFS. The owner actually responded and promised to send an unscented sample months ago but never followed thru. Have tried most of his releases over the past 3 years or thereabouts with every one of them lighting me up immediately prior to the razor touching the skin. Boreal was least irritating of the lot.

Why do you keep trying it then?
