Slickest Creams?

As mentioned prior, I find xPec and Tabula Rasa to be extremely similar in both consistency and performance. Each delivering a quality shave.

I don't pick up orange blossom in xPec but definitely the earthiness of oakmoss and the fennel. I like but don't love the scent. TR I have Dark Lavender [another earthy scent with floral notes] and Olibanum [smokey rooted with cedar notes].

Another "cream" [I don't personally consider it a cream although it is branded as such] is iColoniali. Out o those mentioned it is both the best performer and also has the most pleasant scent IMHO. Sweet but not cloying with notes of citrus, vanilla yet rooted in a smoky note. The slight menthol is a great add and the mango oil makes for fantastic post shave.

Al's Shaving cream (http://www.alsshaving.com ) I got as part of a trade is pretty darn slick. It has been better than TOBS, Castle Forbes, and DR. Harris Creams for me. In fact most of these do not provide me with residual slickness after lather is remove during pass, but Al's has some nice residual slickness. The scents on this are strong, but do not overpowering or knock you out. All EO based scents.

Another one that has been really slick has been O'Bryans. (https://www.obryanshavesoap.com/ ) This soap is really a cream. It is works well and is slick. Scents are super strong and linger for quite a while.

Right now I'd say Tabula Rasa and Santa Maria Novella are right up there for slickness, though I'm also impressed with TOBS Peppermint in that regard. I haven't used Speick or Musgo Real cream in a little while, but remember them being pretty satisfyingly slick. I agree, though, Will: creams aren't as much in the spotlight right now even though some of them are among the most luxurious shave products out there.

I agree with you on Tabula Rasa but it's considered a shave soap although I find it to be softer than a lot of creams. Great stuff regardless. I have the Steampunk scent.

Interesting. I've seen Tabula Rasa described as a cream as often as a soap, if not a bit more often. Given that it's notably softer than current AdP "cream" in the tub, and close in consistency to my TOBS Peppermint, I'm that much more inclined to call it a cream (does anyone actually use the word "croap"? it's so awful!). In any event, it's great stuff!

I never minded the word as it accurately described something harder than a cream but softer than a soap.  It's interesting to see that the term croap has somewhat lost favor and most now seem to prefer stating something like, "called a soap but more like a cream" or vice versa.  Fashions come and fashions go.

I was referring to what Tabula Rasa has on the label which is TR shaving soaps. I'm with you though, it's really a cream and I would have mentioned it too but didn't think to. It's very slick. AdP on the hand I consider a soap.

A friend at work gave me a sample of The Body Shop Maca Root to try and it was indeed extremely slick. I may have to buy that cream next time I'm at the Mall. I like the smell of it too.

jsanchez If you go to The Body Shop store, they'll give you a free sample. At least that was the case when I went there. I was curious about it so I wanted to give it a sniff and check it out. The lady there noticed I was interested and asked if I wanted a sample. It is a nice cream and it's got like a fresh green scent to it.

The Body Shop stores where I live offer samples too as Jeff said. In my opinion it is worth buying if you like the scent. I don't know why I don't have it yet, perhaps because I don't use creams very often but I'm going to have to pick it up. They run awesome sales on their too, such as buy 2 products get 1 free, and buy 3 products get 2 free, etc.
