DecemBoar 23, the eve of Christmas Eve

Overall this was an excellent shave. In particular, I am not happy with the lather from my favorite soap. Again. Maybe MWS and my boars don't play well together? Or maybe I lost my MWS lathering mojo? In any event, I am shelving this soap until next year when I'll spend more time on it with synthetics and/or badgers. It still is giving that awesome post-shave feel, but I can't seem to get a rich, creamy lather.

In other news, I posted a WTB for the Oliblade. I was gifted one from Jorge, and while I liked it, I was more enamored with my Overlanders and whatever else I had going on. So I regifted it to someone else (I don't recall who, and I am not hinting for anything!!). So now I'm willing to pony up for one in the New Year (or sooner). Or maybe if no takers, I'll join the queue waiting to see what Jorge does next!

Readers of these posts were warned several days ago about an upcoming photo shoot. Well, it has taken place and I am happy to report that all cameras and lenses have not been harmed in any way!!

A surprise package arrived unannounced to this address last month. Care was taken upon opening any package of unknown provenance and almost immediately I saw the need for sunglasses.

Behold my new late night tire changing jacket, or anytime that I have to be out on a road or street and be outside in during Mother Nature's cold months! Many thanks to Ken Fluffy as well as the People's Republic of Maryland for my fancy new threads!

And this Hi-Vis jacket is WARM. Eric was getting a little bit heated while figuring out how to take his own picture.

And for warmer weather, a snazzy tee shirt was provided.

I am serious for my thanks, for the jacket has found a home in the backseat of the vehicle for this winter. I plan to don it if I am required to be outside of the car while it is on the side of the road. Or if I am digging out the mailbox after it has been buried under snow when our street is cleared.

Post script: my wife wonders about my online friends, but is thankful nonetheless for my continued safety!

I suppose nothing is truly bad with the song, it just got overplayed and it not my favorite. So some wag on the interwebs mashed up the first lines with a synopsis of Poe's "The Tell-tale Heart. I hope that helps! And I am guessing that if you didn't recognize the lyric, you are also not upset that I made fun of it!!

No worries brother. I was stumped, and you unstumped me.

My morning adventure

Steep sloped region is off camera to the viewer's right.

Went out this morning to get a few things that I forgot yesterday and then couldn't make it up the driveway! Temps in the mid-20sF, and the snow is what they call "greasy" on the roads. I hadn't been plowed out yet, but I have driven many years on bad roads both here and in Michigan. But our drive slopes up and gets steeper just before the apron at the garage doors. When I hit that steeper incline, the car quit moving forward and the wheels spun. I tried back down and making a run up. Again, stuck part way and when I reversed, I started sliding. Being careful, I tried to keep the wheels straight and pull ahead, but instead I slid off the edge as you can see. I am now awaitng my new hero, the local AAA tow truck driver, to help me correct my bad driving choices!

Other than that, I had a great shave with the Bison, Rite Aid Personna blade (4), SOC Taj boar, and Murphy & McNeil Nil.

Hope your Christmas Eve goes better!!

I was parked at the bottom of our driveway for a week last year due to slickness of snow/ice and not being able to get up our steep concrete driveway to the house. Glad you were able to get AAA to save the day for you. Stay warm

That would have been epic! And say, was there a new cabin crew member? In your photo from the cab, it looks like cherry/burgundy/red fellow from the ursid family.

And as it was still daylight, I opted not to wear my new Hi-Vis coat. And because they asked me to keep back in case a chain or cable snapped. But it was an interesting process. And it was Physics In Action, as the operator put a pulley on a thick tree, mounted low to the ground, and was able to "walk" the SUV back onto the driveway. He connected to the rims on driver's side front and rear, and then pulled the car up a bit, then staggered pulls to bring the car up fully. I commented on seeing real live physics, and he laughed and said that there is a lot of thinking involved if you don't want more headache! And then told me one of his drivers got one of the other trucks stuck, as instead of pulling out the car, he managed to pull his truck in!!

In the end, the car is mostly fine. I have a dent on the front passenger side, at the top of the wheel fender, and some scraps on the back passenger door. But no leaks noted in the snow. I did manage to drive over a small pine (2' tall) and push down a poplar "whip" (what my Dad called those trees that are very young and maybe a half inch diameter). And I am glad to have AAA as it cost me nothing but time and making a new friend from the local real live garage, not a chain place!
