Great late morning shave today. I started the day thinking that I may try and finish off this puck. Love the scent, performance, and post shave. But I need to make some room for Stirling’s Black Friday Sale stuff. Then I remembered that I had some Sir Henry’s samples sent to me by dave in KY, so I’ll start those tomorrow. They smell great off the samples. I’m curious about the scent when lathered and how slick they are. I’ll find out tomorrow. I guess finishing this WSP puck off may take a bit, I struggle with that whole 3017 thing anyway.
Like I said, great shave today. The RA still has the edge that came on it from the PO. Shaves very nice, but I may take it to the SB Ark and see if it will smooth out just a hair. I also have some handle reknots to work on the next couple of days. Life is good!

Today’s Shave was sponsored by dave in KY. He was kind enough to supply both this awesome Henckels razor and the Sir Henry’s samples. Loaded a bit of the sample into my copper bowl and got after it.
The scent of the soap is very nice both on the puck and when lathered. Man it smells good. It whipped up a really nice lather and I think I had it dialed in well. The lather had a nice sheen to it. Once applied and working it on my face, the lather has a nice light feel to it, but not airy. Slickness and residual slickness were both good. The scent, oh man it’s nice, and it lingered throughout the shave.
The Henckels made quick work of my shave, singing the entire time. The soap didn’t present any issues for the straight at all, the buttery smooth edge just glided along. This has a JNat edge from Alfredo and it is still going strong. The man is a master of his craft. I did have a small hard landing, but that was my fault as I was so fixated on the soap. Anyway, great shave and I am DFS for the win! I missed just a smidge on my neck that robbed me of a complete BBS. It’s all good though. The soap also rinses cleanly away.
Wrapped this shave up with Witch Hazel since I didn’t have a matching scent. Dave did send a sample of the El Jefe AS balm and I’ll try that on a different shave. But I was testing the soap first. Post shave feel was nice as well. I could also smell whiffs of the soap about an hour later. If the splash or balm work for me, then this one is a keeper. Life is good!

Nice late morning shave today. The plan was to shave with Sir Henry’s Casino Royale today, but sometimes I get distracted ... squirrel! I had glued up a new WhippedDog boar knot yesterday into my new, ultra rare, limited edition, 1 of 1, antler mystery handle. So I had to give it a try today. I also grabbed the Haslinger since it hasn’t seen action in awhile.
Soaked the brush for a few minutes while I got everything ready. I also bloomed the soap. The boar whipped up a nice lather in my mug and I got to it. The brush required a bit of pressure to bloom it, but that was expected. It has decent splay for the first use and the backbone and scritch are nice. I am curious to see how this one will break in. The only negative at the moment is that it’s a lather hog. But that should work out with usage.
The Haslinger and Gillette made quick work of the shave in three easy peasy passes. A nice slow and relaxing shave and I am BBS for the win! Chased this one with Florida Water and everything was right as rain! A very nice shave indeed. Life is good!

Dave in KY, here are some pics with a mock-up knot from the vendor. The craftsman asked to remain anonymous, so I can’t show the coin on the bottom.
