Share your Asylum Rx impressions

I hear where you are coming from, but I don't hear a lot of people complaining about how overpriced the Mongoose SS is, and there is quite a bit more machining on the RX.  It's an "eye of the beholder" thing.

I really doubt I will ever buy one of these, but if he came out with an injector with the same basic design, I would probably bite at it, even at that price.

There is a small US artisan developing an SE that works like an injector. Since the cartridges (Feather/Kai) dispense like a Schick type injector it makes perfect sense to build one. In addition this one will have screws so you can take it apart for manual loading and or cleaning. I can't say who the artisan is at this time but maybe in the near future.

I'm going to take a stab and guess its the Bunny If that is it I would buy it in a heartbeat.

I had my second shave a couple of hours ago. I am very satisfied with this razor. First of all, I'd like to mention for one more time how beautiful it is. I have 30 razors, this one is among the very good looking ones. This time I used my favorite CRSW v.2 Citrus and the Feather Pro I loaded two days ago. The shave was very smooth, especially comparing it to the shaves I get from the other AC type razors I have. There are razors, like the Rocnel SE50, which need some SE experience to enjoy them. This one, the Asylum Rx, can be used from a SE newbie with no problems, in my opinion. It's not an aggressive shaving tool nor difficult to find the correct cutting angle. It's a bit milder than Alumigoose, which means it is a lot milder than Mongoose and that's a good feauture of this razor. It's not as mild as the OneBlade, but admittedly OneBlade is one of the mildest SE razors I have, if not the mildest. Comparing it to some vintage SE razors, like the Ever Ready 1912 loaded with a GEM blade, I'd say that it's a little bit smoother. Asylum is an effective yet smooth razor that takes some of the best blades available. I'd like to try it with the Kai Milds also, but I don't have any of them at the moment, I will probably order a package to make some comparisons.

Can anyone compare to the ATT SE?

I was finding that the blade was sticking to the bottom of the head so tenaciously that I had to use a tongue depressor/toothpick/fingernail (not recommended) to dislodge it.  

What blade are you using? It's designed for use with a few blades, but not all.

The only blade that did not fit the Rx in my case was the Feather Pro Super.

Had another shave with the Rx yesterday - used a new feather Pro blade. Could not be happier - the razor is aggressive, efficient, yet smooth as long as one lets its weight do the work. Manufacturing quality is on par with the Wolfman and Timeless, but from a design point of view, the Rx appeals to me the most. L&L's After the Rain provided perfect protection, glide, and moisturizing. In the coming weeks I plan to test the Rx with my other top saps - Mike's Natural, P&B, OSP, Nuavia, MDC, and B&M.

Shaved with the Rx using T+S Grog. That was the BEST combination. T+S shaving soaps are my number 1 soaps to begin with...

I purchased one, shaved with it 3 times and sold it. Too wide and too heavy for my liking. My 1948 Type G Schick Injector Safety Razor does a much better job.

A bit top heavy and a bit unwieldy to use for me too.

after some more experience with the Rx and trying different blades I arrived to a combination that allows me to use the razor daily with great results - two passes BBS with little irritation. The blades that work best are the Feather Pro Guard and Kai Protouch; best performing soaps so far - Mike's, T+S, L&L, Eufros Tallow.
