Scentsless Shaver
Oakland, ME
I am a newcomer to the Rockwell 6 plate razor, getting the zinc alloy version (6C) in mid May. My only experience with an adjustable up until then was a '64 Slim, which I just love, love, love! I have found which blades work best in that razor for me. I have found which settings work best on any given day. The setting has been constant no matter which blade I use in the Slim, as long as the blade is one that I found to work well for me.

Along comes the Rockwell 6C. I start the process of exploring which of my 5 preferred brands of blades work, and what setting seems best for my face. And then I noticed that one blade brand seemed to work better with a lower plate, and another seems to work better with a higher plate. Now my notes have things like Brand X seems best with R3 but can bite with R4, and Brand Y gives a comfortable and great shave with R5. My experience with my Slim hasn't been like this. All brands that work do best for me when the razor is set to 6.

Just out of curiosity, have any other Rockwell users noted anything like that?

the slim is much more milder than the 6s even when bumped to 9, the milder the razor it is the smoother the shaving experience becomes, I'm sure if u shave with Rockwell on plate 2 or 3 any blade will work for you. For me the slim on 9 + feather blade and I still wanted either more sharp blade or higher aggression

Yeah, I've noticed the same thing.. Shaving with a feather blade makes me use 2 or 3, shaving with an astra loves #4

Same as well.
Astra, Voskhod with plates 5 & 6.
Gillette Nacet, Kai with plates 2, 3, 4.

This is one of the things I love about the Rockwell. The versatility. It's one hell of a razor and (imo) the smoothest shaver by far.

That 6C is calling. A bit lighter and brighter too. Smile
