I am a newcomer to the Rockwell 6 plate razor, getting the zinc alloy version (6C) in mid May. My only experience with an adjustable up until then was a '64 Slim, which I just love, love, love! I have found which blades work best in that razor for me. I have found which settings work best on any given day. The setting has been constant no matter which blade I use in the Slim, as long as the blade is one that I found to work well for me.
Along comes the Rockwell 6C. I start the process of exploring which of my 5 preferred brands of blades work, and what setting seems best for my face. And then I noticed that one blade brand seemed to work better with a lower plate, and another seems to work better with a higher plate. Now my notes have things like Brand X seems best with R3 but can bite with R4, and Brand Y gives a comfortable and great shave with R5. My experience with my Slim hasn't been like this. All brands that work do best for me when the razor is set to 6.
Just out of curiosity, have any other Rockwell users noted anything like that?
