I had the N and I have the O now. The only difference I noticed is that the finish is the same color on the head and handle. The N had a darker finish on the head.

A question for Matt @RazorEmporium.
Every great vintage razor has been through improvements with time, little changes to make them increasingly better.
Have you got a plan for the Rex?
You mention the polished version, then getting rid of the Loctite with a design change that doesn’t rely on it. Then again stainless steel internal spring. Maybe an OC version?
What’s your roadmap for the Rex?

The Rex is definitely a razor I would like to try one day. I think that are cool looking.

So, I purchased an O1 version of the Rex about a week ago. I’ve had 4 shaves with it and I want to tell you a little about the results. Let me qualify things by saying it’s my first adjustable, but I have lots of experience with DE and SE razors. I finally pulled the trigger on this based on the reviews on this site and others.
For reference, I own a OneBlade, a Paradigm Ti2, a Paradigm SE, a Muhle r41 post-2011, a RS-10, and a Dart, just to name a few. I’m a three-pass shaver, so that’s what I did with all but one of my shaves with the Rex. Blade was a Personna Red and the cream was a PAA of some sort for all the shaves. All shaves were conducted on consecutive days.
First shave – setting was 3. First pass was very little audible feedback, to the point where I didn’t even think the razor cut any hair. I felt my face and was impressed. This thing removed more hair than I’ve ever had removed with the grain. ATG was similar. I’m feeling like I’ve hit a home run with this thing. Did a final pass XTG, and there was very little buffing needed. Even my problem area under my chin was in good shape. No irritation. BBS smooth. This is a keeper.
Second shave – setting was 4. Definitely can tell a difference in the shave, which surprises me. There’s some audible feedback. Again, mows down a day’s growth like it’s nothing. ATG has similar audible feedback to WTG. I felt my face and I still need the XTG pass. During this pass, I nicked myself on the neck. Could have been my fault. No buffing needed here after the 3rd pass. Wow, I thought the shave was smooth on 3, but on 4, it’s even better. This is where things get dicey. Doing my post-shave ritual, I notice some irritation on my neck. I’m thinking 4 is probably too high unless I have more than a day’s worth of growth. BBS+, but irritation on my neck.
Third shave – setting was 5. I know what you’re thinking. Why on earth would I do it? I wanted to see if I could do a two-pass shave. First pass WTG and there’s clear audible feedback. I’m talking r41 type feedback. The Rex did a great job. I’m thinking the two-pass experiment might work as I have very little left to shave after the first pass. My second pass ATG is strange in that there’s very little audible feedback. I think it’s because there’s not a lot left to cut. I finished the 2nd pass and I think I only need to buff my problem areas on my chin and neck. Not too shabby. This razor has really, really good balance. I never felt like I had to be as careful with it as I do the Dart or the r41, even on a setting of 5. Unfortunately, I still have residual irritation on my neck. BBS, but some irritation on my neck.
Fourth Shave – setting is 2.5. This was a test to see how the razor performs on a low setting. I ended up doing a three-pass shave. The Rex performed extremely well. Absolutely no issues. I got a BBS shave. The only issue with a 2.5 setting is that the smoothness doesn’t last as long as it did when the setting was 3.
In conclusion, the Rex Ambassador is staying in my rotation for sure. How does it compare to other razors in my den. Really well I’d say. In my eyes, it has similar efficiency to the Dart, which I love. I think the Dart is one of the best razors made for the money. This thing is smoother than just about anything I’ve tried except for the r41. The issue for me is that I have to be extremely focused when I pull the r41 out of the cabinet. With the Rex, the balance makes the shave natural. I think there’s danger when you dial it up to 5 or 6. It takes some focus. But in the 2 or 3 range, it’s a hard razor to beat.

I own a Rex Ambassador and plan to purchase the Dart. I have a couple of questions which would be helpful.
1) Which setting on the Rex is closest to the Dart? Do you know the blade gap on the Dart?
2) Do you have the machined or polished finish on your Dart?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

For me, the 3 setting was really close to the Dart. With regards to the blade gap, I think Shane said he wasn't going to publish it, so it's unknown. There's definitely some blade feel with the Dart. I own the original machined version of the Dart and that finish has held up extremely well.

Shane is right to deflect questions away from gap. The Dart is aggressive because of exposure, thus gap comparisons are really meaningless.

3.5 is the sweet spot on the REX for me. Any higher and I need to be really careful with it. 3.5 seems like a careless shave that has a long lasting BBS for me.

Today is a crazy day, I found one Rex which has exactly same serial number with mine.
One of the Badgerandblade members is selling his own REX with serial number O1 #1959.

I have exactly same number, I never sold mine. And I am the only and first owner and never lend.
I sent my razor photos to him. He was really surprised. Razor Emporium mistakenly duplicated the numbers.
He gave me a permission to share this here. It is crazy that we have same serial numbers, and we found each other.

His Razor purchased from Maggard:

My razor from Razor Emporium, top one is for my father (his birth year), I have not given him yet.

how do you guys clean the inside of this razor? I don't lather/gunk buildup over time like I saw in some vintage TTO razors. I try to rinse with water after every shave and every 7 shave, I use a toothbrush and mild soap to clean the outside of the razor.
