Im but a novice...but from what I've read...if your razor has a slightly smiling blade, you may need to do X strokes anyway, regardless
of strop or hone width...true?

I have been told the opposite. That there’s enough flex in the leather to adequately hit all parts of the shaving edge on a strop.
