Preferred Strop Width

You can always use a butter knife or something similar that won't cut you to try different approaches.

I like the small size of the 2.5 x 8 inch "bench" strop I'm using at the moment. But I'd say 3" is better than 2.5", but obviously 2.5" is perfectly fine.

2 1/2 for hanging but I usually use a board strop and I prefer 3 inches. I also have a 3.5 inch Loom strop which I love.

I prefer 3 or 3.5

3-inch strops as they eliminate the need to do the x-strokes, which isn't a difficult thing to do, but it is just another thing to simplify the stropping process.

Im but a novice...but from what I've read...if your razor has a slightly smiling blade, you may need to do X strokes anyway, regardless
of strop or hone width...true?

I have been told the opposite. That there’s enough flex in the leather to adequately hit all parts of the shaving edge on a strop.

No doubt...3 to 3+ inches...all the way!
