OCtober 6, MMXXIII

- Gillette Canadian-made Reverse-Stud Goodwill, with a plain brass repro handle from Razor Emporium (bonus: the handle is hollow, so the weight and balance are closer to that of a vintage handle.)
Since this photo was taken, I had polished the head somewhat, and by now the patina on both are a close match.
- Astra SS blade (10)
- RazoRock Don Donato soap
- SynBad brush
- Proraso Green aftershave splash

It feels a little bit rough, but with care you can get a close nick-free shave.

You and me both. I had my eye on it when The Razor Company had them, and I had some rewards that I could’ve used, but it was just the cost at that time. I couldn’t pull the trigger.

A few days ago (who can keep track) ...
Fendrihan "Full Stainless - Scientist" Open Comb/Closed Comb, with Astra SS (12 and done)
The "Scientist" part of the name is simply which handle pattern.

It's the most aggressive non-adjustable DE I have, whether using the OC or Guard Bar side. It certainly gives a close shave, but you have to take care. Also the most massive, at 111 g.

This is the original version. It uses "Metal Injection Molding" for the head. They now sell it (or something like it) as the "Fendrihan Mk Full Stainless Steel Open Closed Comb Double Edge Safety Razor" but I don't know if they meant "Mk II" or what. Maybe they fixed the fillet.

One design flaw it has is that the fillet around the cap screw is a wee bit too wide for the middle hole of the blade. If you are in the habit of flipping a blade between uses, the flexing causes metal fatigue and it eventually does this:

You don't notice it because it doesn't happen until you torque it down on the handle, so that had me puzzled for the longest time.

On the positive side, the knurling on the handle is the grippiest I've ever seen.
