New Wolfman 'Guerrilla' Razor?

There is a contemporary REDDIT thread with some actual use feedback. The handle is large diameter but the unit still head heavy. Slippage is not an issue ( I'm the Sorcerer's Apprentice) fit and finish quality still as good, if not better than most.

from my understanding this is supposed to be a value line. same geometry and shave of the wr-1 without the extensive hand finishing and customization. this allows for wider availability and a lower price. i don't know what other designs you're looking at but the head looks about the same on my monitor. i guess you could say a bmw 3 series is an inferior product compared to the 7 series but i'd still take one over a hhr.

This is not what you expect from this maker. That was my point. This is not a BMW, but a Ferrari. Do you expect anything less than perfect from Ferrari? It's not about an affordable item, Ferrari doesn't have an affordable line. It's about perfection.

I'm sure this one will be selling like hot cakes, name is a good reason, and because people "have to" buy this one.

Can I post info about this razor from another forum? (Mods please advise.)

Created in late April, and soon to be available. The target price will be $225 CAD (about $165 USD).

Why offer another razor when there are already availability issues at Wolfman Razors? This razor is not extensively hand finished. After machining, the process is straightforward and finishing work is strictly about function, not aesthetics.
Aren't you a little too busy for this? In terms of hand finishing, yes. The machines are able to keep up with ease, while finishing work continues. Machines have often been idle, especially since another machine was added a few months ago. This razor will occupy the extra capacity of the existing machines. There is a shop employee who will be handling production.
Details: 316L stainless steel, featuring a somewhat large but hollow handle. The overall weight is 90 grams (head 28, handle 62). The handle is 85mm long, and is just under 16mm diameter. The blade locates on the base plate, rather than the top cap. Blade gap is .69mm. The shave angle is somewhat shallow.
Availability: Initial feedback has been positive all around, so production is under way. There won't be steady production for a couple of months, until around mid summer. The intention is for this razor to be readily available, as it won't have any options. The handle comes with the razor head.

Yes, I agree that the availability is going to be a big factor in this sale: Those who don't have a Wolfman, and are not willing to wait can still have a competitively priced razor made in the Wolfman shop.

There's an initial feedback thread on that same community, and so far the impressions are positive, with the only critiques being that one tester found it a bit head heavy, and another found the handle too thick for his hands (and carpal tunnel).

I know it's hard to do, but I think the approach should be to imagine this razor coming to market and neither the Wolfman nor BBS-1 exist.

Would this razor be an attractive alternative to what else is available among SS razors?

At this price point it's cheaper than a ATT, BB or Timeless, and more expensive than a Rockwell 6. If it shaves well, then I'd say yes. Must admit, that handle looks like it needs some knurling or ridges...

I'm wondering how the gap at .69 compares to the Wolfman at .61. The heads looks similar so will this be more aggressive. I'm already finding the .61 a little rough .

I'm thinking James should consider making more of the rings/grooves in the handle. They wouldn't take much longer to machine, and would add more grip. Just my 2 cents.

I have both a .61 and .74 OC Wolfman. I find both to be a smooth shavers and am comfortable using both. I find the .61 to have the blade feel of a Slim on 5 but more efficient than the Slim on 9. While the .74 relates more closely to a Slim on 7. The .74 will bite if I am reckless but it is the more efficient of the two. The .74 Wolfman OC and my .95 Timeless OC are very similar to me in terms of efficiency and smoothness.
