Thanks for that detailed run-down HighSpeed . I'm more or less decided on buying; just gonna hang out for the handle I want. I am committed to synth as I have sold off all my quality badgers, and I am not someone who is trying to approximate a badger brush with a synth. My attitude is: if I want a badger brush, I'll use a badger brush. I get others have varying requirements; just stating my POV.

I plan to get one, assuming WCS can keep the handle combo I want in stock long enough for me to buy, that is.
No, I got tired of waiting and ended up buying several AP Shave Co brushes and a G4 from Frank Shaving.

Just a quick note that I used the EVO yesterday for the first time - I use a synthetic only for travel (badger at home) - I like this handle a bit better than my CH2 synthetic - nice weight and a little larger, and the knot feels similar to my CH2 - so overall, I like it.

And in case anyone is interested - here's a copy/paste version of a short review I did - using the Taiga as part of a pass-around

First shave with the Taiga - put in a new Polsilver super iridium blade - I have to say, the Taiga has really nice heft and balance - It's been a while since I've used a Rex Ambassador, but I recall not liking the short handle - this handle feels better with great grip. First pass on 5 - some blade feel, but no nicks and felt smooth - did a second pass starting on 3, but I think that was too mild (it's the Neutral setting on this razor) so bumped it up to 4. Probably could have just left it at 5 for both passes and the final touch-up (which calls into question the reason for an adjustable, but hey - it's a pass-around Smile )

I'll use it a couple more times and then pass it on, but on first use it presents as a solid razor at a nice weight with easy blade loading and adjustability.

I was kind of set on getting the faux marble il Duca handle (when back in stock at WCS), but that handle ("Ego" I think?) in marble sounds like size-wise a better fit for me.

mine is indeed the Ego - this gray version is stone - nice weight and good feel in the hand - not sure about the marble version....

I just went ahead & ordered the faux marble Ego handled version from WCS (the last one, as it now shows as out of stock). They have a sale going on right now (8% off for $50 in purchases; 10% for $75....and 15% off for $100); I made it just over the $100 mark ($100.73 to be exact) and got the brush and some other items for $85 + change. =)

My EVO was delivered this morning.  I was going to wait around for the il Duca handle to be back in stock, but IanG153 's pics above convinced me the Ego handle would be a better fit for my hand, and it sure seems like I made the right decision.  I LOVE the grippiness of this handle!  It has a grippy, matte finish to it.  Me likey.

I have the E1855 model, and I too am surprised at how good the grip is.

Thanks to my friend Bat71@ilRasoio, these days I can try these synth deluxe jewels:
  • Omega Evo Ego
    Silversynth, Marble Resin, 28x55x105mm, 96g
  • Simpson Chubby CH2S
Platinum Grade Synthetic Bristle, Faux Ivory, 27x50x94mm, 78g
[Image: sTQNkdl.jpg]
Full size 2000x3000px https://imgur.com/sTQNkdl

On paper very similar.
Both in the luxury section of synthetics.
There are actually very few of Synth Deluxe.

In practice I have noticed some differences.
Especially in the behavior of the fiber.
But also in general of the setting.
Less in ergonomics.

The grip is comfortable and safe for both.
Having big hands, I get along better with the Chubby.
Although small, there is more surface and space for the fingertips.
Combined with the lower weight, I find it more manageable.
At least in FL, which is my only use.

The setting is similar, but the two tufts behave differently.
Evo is more compact, with more backbone and spring effect.
Chubby is softer, opens more easily and is less "sprung".
You can also see the difference when loading the soap and drying it.
Evo bends less, Chubby is more docile.
I think they are set differently, under the tuft.
The anchoring seems more marked in the first than in the second.

The fibers are very different.
Thinner in the Chubby and with more elongated tips.
Evo has a sizable section for a synthetic, and shorter tips.
The difference can be clearly seen when wet.
Italian comes together in small packages, English in larger groups.
This is due to the greater flexibility of the barrel.
But also for the angle of refinement at the tip, more gentle.

This is reflected in the usage behavior.
Not better or worse, but different.
Chubby is more suitable for those looking for comfort.
Evo for those who love sustained massage.

Both are incredibly close to a Silvertip rate.
A magnificent Super High Density of the High Mountain White genre.
But simpler, more resistant and cheaper.

Personally I prefer gentler fibers.
Less thick, more flexible and controllable.
But I recognize that these two are magnificent.
Anyone who loves the genre is certainly in love with it.
In practice, two samples of their respective categories.

These brushes demonstrate, if there was still a need, the improvement of the synthetic sector.
From my point of view, the future in general but already absolutely present.
In fact, technology easily surpasses the limits of Mother Nature.
Often wrong, but not in this case.

I also find the aesthetic side very satisfying.
In my SOTDs they are not as good as they are in reality.
