First, apologies for not taking more of an active part on this thread since my last post. My father-in-law is in the hospital and it has been taking enormous amounts of my time.

I got a chance to talk to OneBlade's CEO about the Core launch today. He acknowledged several issues with the first production run: broken springs, blade insertion issues, too-gentle shave, etc. He said the return rate is on the order of about 1%. They made at least four engineering changes to address those issues. Cosmetic issues (plastic seems) are on their radar too but they wanted to address the functional issues first.

The second production run (another 2500 units, with the fixes above) should start shipping later next week.

I'm told there will be an aggressive campaign to "make it right" with anyone who has a first-run razor they're not happy with but I don't have details yet.

Over-all I can say from the conversation that the CEO is sensitive to the concerns raised by the "enthusiast" shaver and wants to address them in a transparent way.

I'll try to pay attention to this thread a little more closely when I can. Feel free to PM/email me if I don't respond to a comment/question in a timely fashion.

I think a few of us are very curious to know 1) why they're requesting unused blades back and 2) what they're doing with them.

I will ask.

I'm tempted to return mine to get one in the next batch, but the reality is that I haven't had any issues with it. Thanks for updating us, mantic59 !

Thanks mantic59 for your info. I do not want to put you on the spot like you are responsible for what the CEO says etc. I'm just curious was the original launch 2500 razors. A return rate of 1% would be only 25 razors that seems pretty low given what has been seen on just this board and another one I lurk on.

The timeline just seems off. I mean if customers just got these razors starting two weeks ago and it takes a few days for feedback to start rolling in and now they already have a new and improved razor ready to ship out today. Just seems very odd to be able to switch over that fast unless they knew of issues but released them anyway hoping most wouldn't go through the trouble of returning it etc. or just wanting to meet the Father's Day deadline.

I can't say anything "authoritatively" beyond what I've already said...we were on the phone for only about 20 minutes. I think (my opinion) is two weeks is plenty of time to hear from dissatisfied users. They have been pretty "on top of" the manufacturer (San Diego is a much shorter airline trip than China! Smile ) so to me it's entirely possible to get a "hot fix" (to use a software term) turned around pretty quick.

I just caught up on this thread from page 35 forward. My thoughts:

1. Trying to change another person's reality is classic abuser behavior. That is what they did when they tried to tell people they weren't using it right. The reason they can charge $50 for a plastic razor is because it should deliver classic shave quality without skill needed. I've followed celestino for some time. He knows how to shave. period. I have no doubt that the same applies to mitchcumsteen, who has 50 razors, he knows how to shave.

2. A return rate of 1% seems a dubious claim to me. I haven't tallied numbers, but the number on this forum seems to be much higher.

3. I have a hard time thinking that the OneBlade people are sensitive to customer concerns. If they were, they wouldn't be repeating the same issues with this razor that they did with the last one. Brings the story of The Scorpion and the Frog to mind.

4. All of this happening around the same time he claimed the GEM blade isn't as good. Recently I did an aggressive shave with a V1 stainless and a GEM blade the night before a long day. I wanted to look good for meetings the next afternoon. The next afternoon my face was as smooth as if I had done a regular shave four hours before.

Hmmmmmm. 1%. 1% ? Dude, Dude? Only 25 razors? That is truly rich.

Thanks for the update mantic.

I returned mine Thursday. IMO the head material and finish is really where the problem is.
Addressing the aggresion problem doesn't solve it. That is one of many problems.

Based on my experience and what I've been reading on the boards, my guess is 25-30% return rate.
