Got mine a couple days ago.
Yes, the packaging was messy, but the razor, 2 plates and stand are fine.
Somehow the threads on the top cap were slightly “gritty”. Wiped the threads with a towel, much better. No idea what it was or why…
Shaved with the 4 plate to begin, with a couple days growth.
I typically use Voshkhods or Lab Blues, so I started with the Blues provided with the razor.
The 4 plate/Blue was very efficient. 2 pass/touch up. Not sure if I enjoyed the blade combo, it was a bit harsh…but that could also have been me, or the DG Dayman soap. (Probably the former.)
The O rings are a thoughtful touch. (It’s easier if you roll them down the handle to the first indent, then the second and third…
They roll over newly planted rings easier than rolling over the slot?)
The 3 plate/Blue the next day was great for a 24 hour shave, as I expected.
Still not sure of the blade combo. Typically I use the Lab Blues in a less efficient razor, so again, if it works out I think the Era will prove to be more efficient than I expected…I’m going to try out a Voshkhod with the 4 next, I’m thinking it’ll smooth out the harshness, for me.
(And Ethos DFS Colonia, which is always a winner!)
As with most new razors, I’ll give the Era a few different blades to try for the week.
My initial impression is that this will be a super razor once I dial in a blade.
Once dialed in, I think this could be a comfy daily driver…
IMHO efficient beyond expectations, maneuverable, good aural feedback and a Goldilocks, not too heavy, not too light razor.
FWIW…if you’re looking for this to be a hand-polished razor, it’s not…but I didn’t expect that. It may even develop a slight patina?
Very interested for more gents to chime in with first impressions!!
