This is great news as I've held off on ordering any more MW soap after my first order because I had a fair bit of difficulty creating consistently good lather and the containers were also not to my liking. These latest updates seem to have remedied my problems and I plan on placing another order soon. Raspberry lemon is calling me. I hope this is a successful change for you Michelle.

Shea butter melts in hot weather, in the summer when it's over about 80 degrees it starts to melt outdoors. I keep it in a cooler at the market and advise people to not leave it in their hot car. At normal room temperature at home, it is fine, but direct sun or extreme heat will turn it liquid. I sell both "regular" unscented shea butter (melted and poured into a jar) but the product that I'm known for is the whipped butter. I add a little coconut oil and vitamin e to it and whip it so that it forms peaks before putting it in jars. It's a mousse texture and is much more pleasant to apply. Like regular shea butter, a little goes a long way. The problem in summer is that if it were to melt during shipping it would deflate and lose the light texture that's so nice. Yes, it would solidify again if you stuck it in the refrigerator, and would be perfectly usable, but it wouldn't be as I intended. Since I can't control the conditions of transport, I can't guarantee that it'll arrive in perfect condition in the summer. If it went fairly quickly from the post office to a plane or truck, and then directly to an air-conditioned building it might be fine, but if it got left in a hot truck all afternoon, or on a doorstep or in a mailbox, it would be liquid on arrival.

Thanks much for the detailed explanation! I had no idea that shea butter is susceptible to melting and losing consistency. Since I am interested in the whipped version and since my climate is always on the hot side, I suppose it would be better for me to wait until winter to order some tubs. That product looks fantastic! It will be a long wait, but at least I'll have something to look forward to.

Neo, I’m with you on this one. Should have ordered a few weeks ago. Now it’ll be about a 4–5 month wait, but I’m sure it’ll be worth it. Smile

For those of you who've been wondering whatever happened with the chelation tests that I was doing a couple of months ago…it took longer than expected for everyone to complete their evaluations, and then we were in the middle of our festival/beginning-of-market-season flurry, before I could write a comprehensive summary of the results.

To sum it up, everybody received a control sample of the regular soap, another with citric acid only, and three others that had citric acid/sodium gluconate/sodium lactate, in different combinations to see what would boost the lather without negatively affecting any of the other qualities.  You might think that there would have been a unanimous opinion about “the best” one – but as we all know, YMMV rules and that was proven once again.  There were a couple of instances of one person's favorite being another person's least favorite.

Each person ranked the five soaps in order of preference:  the final choice of most improved soap came down to two that had the same number of votes each: B and C.  But C was consistently considered in top or second place, with the fewest, if any, negative comments.  C was the one with citric acid only, and so that is what I have been adding to all restocked batches since early summer.

So far, I’ve made the following soaps with the new easier-to-lather formula:
Marrakesh
Pompelmo & Fiori (btw, the newest batch of this has menthol in it too!)
Lavender Lime w/menthol
Raspberry Lemon
Irish Traveller
Vetiver & Oakmoss
Lilac
Eucalyptus & Spearmint w/menthol
Sandalwood Rose
Adirondack Jack
Poggio dei Pini
Sandalwood Vanilla
Bay Rum
Jeff’s Lavender
Sensitive Skin
Jasmine
Windjammer
Lemongrass & Blue Gum w/menthol
Lime
Almond Vanilla
Frankincense & Myrrh
Bergamot, Cedarwood & Sage
Cedar & Sage
Barbershop

Eventually, they'll all be switched over to the new chelated formula, meanwhile there are still a few types available in the original formula.

Yup, B and C — sounds about right. Smile (Those were the highlights of the test samples for me, although all of the soaps were very good.)

Michelle, thanks for letting us know how the test turned out and for keeping us posted on how things with Mystic Water Soap are progressing!

"I recently bought a few samples from MW site. Now wondering whether those were using this new formula or old one.... :S"

I've updated the label to include citric acid on the new ones. If you look at the ingredient label, you will see it listed down toward the bottom if it's the new formulation.

I have recently brought the Pompelmo & Fiori soap with menthol and think it's an outstanding soap alround, one of the best grapefruit scents out there Smile
