I apologize for keeping you in suspense: I'm still waiting for several people to get back to me before I make final decisions. Because I have so many different kinds of soap, the changeover will occur in stages (kind of like happened with the addition of lanolin). New batches will be made with the addition of the chosen chelator and eventually they will all have it. I'm getting ready for a big show next weekend (the Washington Folk Festival at Glen Echo Park, for anyone who is in the D.C. area) so analyzing and posting the final results will have to wait until that's over.

A few things:  I've begun using my new, wider white jars for the shaving soap!  I have not had time to take pictures of them yet and post them on the website, so anyone who has received one should feel free to post pics if they want to.  They are heavy-walled sturdy jars with plenty of room for loading big brushes.  I decided not to direct pour the soap into them for two reasons: I want to continue to sell refills, and I don't have room to cure as many open tubs of soap as I have varieties of product.  The only problem is that my silicone molds are a standard 3" round, while the new jars are closer to 4" in diameter...so the puck will have to be pressed down into the jar when it arrives.  I hope this slight inconvenience is outweighed by the possibility of getting refills at a good price.  

I have updated my website with three new shaving soaps for the summer:  Lavender Lime with menthol, Pompelmo e Fiori (Grapefruit and Flowers), and Raspberry Lemon.  The first is a repeat of one I did last year, but with the addition of menthol for the summer - I didn't intend for it to be mind-numbingly mentholated, just a good but not overwhelming cooling sensation.  It's essential oil only and has the same amount of menthol as Prospect Creek, without the peppermint oil.

Pompelmo e Fiori...I've been on Skype a lot these days giving my son in Sardinia a hand translating Italian into English for work and I think that's influencing my naming of products...anyway, this is an addition  that I've been meaning to make to my citrus scents, and was a suggestion from one of the gentlemen here who noticed how well his floral soap blended with a grapefruit scented cream...the grapefruit fragrance in this pairing is definitely stronger, with the lily of the valley flowers scent barely there in the background.

The third scent is a lot of fun, and the credit goes to Windsor Citrus for suggesting the blend - he described it as mostly raspberry, supported by lemon, grounded with Haitian vetiver and with a hint of leather.  It manages to be fruity without being overly sweet and I think it's an intriguing scent - I find myself stopping to sniff it every time I walk by the curing racks.  I look forward to hearing what you think of it, too.

All three of these incorporate a chelating ingredient which will, I hope, make them easier to lather in hard water.  This might not be the final change, but it should be a positive first step - I still have to compare all the test results that are still coming in.  The three new soaps all have lanolin in them, as well.

I've also made a mustache wax that is pretty awesome.    It's a medium firm hold for everyday use, in small metal tins of .75 oz.   I made some unscented, some with my Bay Rum  and Barbershop fragrances, but very lightly scented.  I'm going to make a strong hold type with pine resin that will probably have a pine/herbal scent blend, but that's a future product.  The mustache wax isn't on the website yet, but feel free to email me about it, if you're curious. I'll have it with me at the Washington Folk Festival next weekend.

The new tubs are very nice, a really great size and pushing the soap down is very easy. I will post a picture when I get a chance.

I am really looking forward to trying the new grapefruit scent in the future.

Great news about the larger containers, also. Maybe I am wrong but I've always believed it was common practice to press the soaps down in to the containers. I've always done that and can't imagine trying to load sufficiently from the puck diameter.

Awesome news Michelle! I am definitely interested in trying the moustache wax. It's funny you mention pine resin because I was just camping over the weekend and forgot to bring my 'stache wax. I decided to use some pine resin. It worked well but was extremely sticky. It smelled wonderful though!

Please, whatever you do, don't eliminate your pucks! I think they are fantastically convenient, inexpensive, environmentally-friendly and they don't take up much room when you have too many!
