Love them both but the lower loft on the ZT1 is a backbone monster badger pillow that might not be for everyone but I love it.

I appreciate that Brett will set your knot at whatever loft you want because he’s an awesome guy and he provides a truly custom experience.

I have tried a Declaration 28/48 knot and it didn't quite do the trick for me....a tad stiff on my face.
If I ever indulge in a 28mm ZT2 I might look at a loft of about 50-52mm
Be interesting to hear other opinions on this.

Thank you sir. I think I am to have him set my 28mm zt2 at 50mm. I have another 28mm turnnshave tips fan set at 52mm and think it would be even better at 50.

I agree with you that its awesome he will make it truly custom in that respect. He responded quickly this morning when I ask him a few questions. He seems like a great guy. I can't wait to get my brush back. He said it should only take about two weeks. That is fast in my book and compared to others.

I asked Brett to set my 28mm ZT2 identical to my ZT1 so I’ll let you know what I think when I receive it.

Here’s a bold statement in my opinion of ZT2, the 26mm ZT2 has softer tips, more backbone, higher density, and better flow through than all the B3-B8 knots I own or have tried.

To be clear and fair, not Brett's medallion in particular, but all coins in the butts of brushes Smile

+1
It is really unfortunate that brush makers started this trend as it detracts from the simplicity and beauty of the handle, especially, if you are photographing them for your SOTD pics.  Shy

I actually prefer a coin. I consider it akin to the makers mark on a straight razor. It helps to ensure that it’s the real deal, and not a copy from someone.

Kehole , that is fair and I completely understand. However, a simple marking or engraving would be more elegant.   Shy

I actually agree but I dislike having a bunch of writing on the body of the brush. A coin is completely out of sight most of the time, unless you like to photograph the bottom of a brush....

I think the reason why most guys go with coins is cost. Engraving machines or lasers are prohibitively expensive for many and it’s hard to justify the cost unless you’re running it 40 hours a week minimum in the case of an engraving business.

Basically a long winded version of me saying I agree with you, but I understand why most guys use coins. Ha!

Stipulated script on the body is less than optimum and in some cases truly distracting at best (ahem Wiborg)…. DG has this concept spot on with elegant logo discretly within the handle bottom recess ( batch now on all & old days also on Ivories).

My 28mm ZT1 is set at 47mm. Both of my 28mm ZT2s are set at 49mm.

I think the only time I've ever photographed the bottom of a handle (outside BST maybe) was an Elite custom that I sent a coin for Bob to set. It was a tribute to my Native American heritage. Never seen another brush base worth taking a picture of, honestly, coin, script, or sans both Smile

The counterfeiting point was well taken. The coin does a better job than initials with a sharpie for longevity.
