Online wet shaving is getting rather silly. If folks aren't engaging in forum wars, they are debating how many angels can fit on the head of a pin. An artisan-made stainless steel pin hand forged and dipped in unicorn tears at that. It is kind of strange subculture now.

Razor blades and other items can change over time. Slightly annoying at times, but nothing new and not the end of the world. To determine if a given blade type is good or not, just buy a pack and try them. If you bought a 100-pack and they suck, just trade or PIF them. Problem solved, no kvetching required.

Hmm. How many obsessive-compulsive "wet shavers" can fit on the edge of a Personna blade? I suppose it depends on which package the blade comes in.

Personna makes at least three types of DE blade at their Nazareth plant & Accutec makes at least four types of DE blade at their Verona plant.

Since a vendor (who I would assume deals directly with manufacturers) is essentially saying one thing, and you John Clayton are saying another, perhaps you could produce a list or chart of which blade type actually falls under which branding. That would make this thread more informative than the blanket statements or puns we are seeing right now.

I kinda miss the old days when it was more about getting great shaves with cool tools at a bargain price. The neurotic aspect that developed over the last few years isn't doing traditional wet shaving any favors.

Most manufacturers produce more than one blade because they are made for different uses. Normally there is a variation in the finish grind & or the honing. Also blades are coated differently which changes there performance in feel & longevity.

The reason why Personna only list one blade on there website is because they don't want/need more than one blade available. They make more than one blade because of private label & other companies they have acquired over the years. Gillette only lists one blade & recently did not show any DE blades on their site at all.

The post below is based on blades I have stocked & or used myself. There may be more blades available for industrial use but only the premium coated blades are suitable for shaving.
